Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: Electoral Roles
« on: Friday 10 September 10 00:56 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for the headsup.

I am essentailly trying to find out who lived at number 4 and number 16 New High St Fairfield from 1900 onwards. In particult the surnames Proctor and Hyde who from the census info occupied these addresses up until the 1911 so I am trying to find out who lived at these addresses from 1911 onwards as far as possible??

Is this possible??

Regards

Hi Cancan...thank you very much for your reply.

I had no reply to my request other than yours so I really appreciate your response and help. It appears that my GG Grandfather is very illusive...maybe he was baptised somewhere in the surrounding area but I understand Prestbury at that time was quite large so i guess I will have to look at other avenues for records....the census returns for 1841 show he was from 'Prestbury' and his children from Macclesfield.... so he may have moved from Prestbury to Macclesfiled during the 1820's onwards....

I suspect his age may have been a guess or something and he was more likely to have been born somewhere from 1790 - 1796

Any suggestions would be appreciated....

Thanks once again for your help.

Best Regards....Lindsay

Thanks for the reply dollyee......Im actually researching from Australia so its challenging getting hold of records. I have Thomas's death cert which says he died in Birch Vale, Derbyshire so I assume he was living around that area.

Thanks for your help.

Cheshire / Macclesfield society of friends....help!
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 04:26 BST (UK)  »
Hello all.

I have been attempting to trace the birth/baptism of my GGG Grandfather Edward Hyde, abt 1795-1800 Prestbury (his age is problametic from the variety of ages given on census). He had a son Thomas Hyde abt 1836 Macclesfield who married Hannah Proctor in 1855(I am yet to find his birth entry and this info is from his death cert which I have a copy of and the census info).

I have found an entry on the following site and notice that under the 'burial' info it states 'Macclesfield of Friends, Macclesfield, Cheshire'. What does this mean in terms of where he may be buried or where his birth records are located and his religion and is it possible that his father Edward Hyde, who I cannot locate records for is also a part of this same 'society of friends?

Plse help...any help would be grateful.

Derbyshire / Birth/Baptism/Death Info Questions..pls
« on: Tuesday 29 September 09 06:20 BST (UK)  »
Pls excuse my dumb question but, what is the difference between the information which is found on a Baptism entry in Parish records and that found on birth certificate?? Is looking for the Baptism entry going to give me any more information that already found on a birth certificate?

I have  birth cert for my G grandmother - Sarah Ann Hyde which tell me the date, 1857, the registration district is Chapel-en-le-frith, sub-district of Buxton in the county of Derby. If I was to look for the entry of here Baptism which records office/Parish would I go to to find this enry?? Her place of birth on the census records is listed as in the civil parish of Fairfield.......even in the 1861 census it tells me she was born in the civil parish of Fairfield??? Where does Chapel-en-le-frith come in??

Also, I have located the death entry for Sarah Ann Hyde in 1928 age 71, place of even Buxton. reg office 395, reg entry BD/26/040. How and where would I look for the place she is actually buried??

I would appreciate any help.

Regards.

Lindsay

Thanks for your replies.....

The Edith I am linked to is the Edith Hyde mentioned by Manchester Rambler....living with her mother Sarah and brother George in 1891 and also Sarahs' cousin Francis Proctor.....Francis Proctor being the link I think to fathering George and Sarahs' 3rd child and my grandfather Richard (1898).

So would it be normal practice to list a deceased person by both names she may have been know as on the death indexes?? Shd I get a copy of the death cert to clarify do you think? I am anovice at this and trying to make the most from Australia.

Thakns for your help.
