Family History Beginners Board / Re: Marianne Caldwell/William Lionel Pyne

William Pyne born circa 1812, Somerset, father John married Frances Hales 5.7.1842 by Licence at St. James Westminster.  I dont know any thing about the Pyne family, but Frances was the daughter of Frances Caldwell and George Hales of Cradley.  Frances Caldwell was the daughter of Susannah Hill and Tracy Caldwell.  Hope this is of some help.

Thanks - I went to Kington yesterday, Friday and spent the morning with 2 ladies from the Historical Society.  I got quite a lot of information.  I had already visited the Museum and obtained copies of some relevant photographs from their vast collection.

I am following up on all the information collected.

Thanks again - Skillicorn Archive

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Skillicorn

There was a direct sea route from Ramsey, Isle of Man to Cumbria so many people who left from the north of the island went direct to Cumbria and settled there.  Our Skillicorns lived in Ramsey and one branch of the family moved to Whitehaven.  I have yet to find the descendants, but I keep hoping.

I am researching the Skillicorn family from the Isle of Man, John SKILLICORN Master Painter and Decorator settled in KINGTON before 1900.  I am looking for any information on the family or the shops that they ran in Kington.
