Kent Lookup Requests / James Robert Pope Kent Look Up
« on: Friday 03 June 05 17:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Could somebody please look up the whereabouts of James Robert Pope on the 1861 Kent Census as i would like to know where he was between 1852-1878, he would have been 9 years old at the time (b 1852 In Burwash, Sussex) his father (Collin) died in the Chatham Union Workhouse in 1858. Don't know where his mother (Mary Ann Sone) was at the time. His brother Henry was born in Rochester in 1856. He also has two brothers George (b Burwash 1846) and Alfred (b Burwash 1847) and a Sister Suzannah (b Burwash 1849).

Thanks in advance

Darrell

Could somebody please look up Collin Pope in the Chatham Union Workhouse. He died there in 1858 but i would like to know when he went in and if he had any family in there with him. I know that it must have been sometime between 1852 & 1858 because His son (my great grandfather) was born in 1852 in Sussex.

Thanks in advance

Darrell

Thanks once again for your help. Not to worry both Karen Pope and i are having difficulty tracking these rellies down i think we should turn our attention to kent and search there. We know that Collin Pope died in the union workhouse in Chatham in 1858 and Sivyer Pope moved back to maidstone around this time. which is why i think Collin was there, to be near his family. Any further help or suggestions you could give us would be greatly appreciated.

Best Wishes Darrell

Hi Jane

Just thought i'd drop you a few words of thanks for the info that Karen Pope passed on to me. Alice Ellen Pope is my Grandfathers niece. My Grand father was William John Pope (17) errand boy living with Father. There was a bit of a mystery surrounding Alices Mother Ellen Elizabeth Pope She had a child Elizabeth Bradfield Pope (Lizzie) in 1900 But no Fathers name was on the Birth cert it looks like the Fathers surname was Bradfield not Bradshaw. She then married Fred Richardson in 1912 and had two more children Ethel in 1913 and George in 1914 by him. i knew absolutely nothing about Alice, Percy or Florence untill now although i thought it was strange that there was a 13 year gap between children. I have now Ordered the birth certs for Alice, Percy and Florence to see if there is anymore info on their Fathers I will let you know if there is anything on William bravery.

Regards Darrell Pope.
