How fascinating!!

I know from certs etc that the whole family were Methodists, even into the late 19th century

The Stephensons nearly had occupations connected to the sea, several were merchant seamen, my great grandfather Alexander was killed in action in 1917 on board a Q-ship the Vala, it was torpedoed by a u-boat.

I have only just found out in the past couple of weeks another Stephenson relative, which has proved exciting, he too was a marine fireman, the family moved to Coventry, where they live today

Hello

I have read that you have some Stephenson family history, William and Catherine nee Archbutt

I am related to this branch of the family, William's brother John is my 3x great grandfather, would you be able to tell me more??

Another of William's brothers was also a Methodist preacher, he remained in Cottingham and married into the Zealand family
