The Common Room / Re: Help with Marriage Certificate
« on: Thursday 01 September 11 17:19 BST (UK)  »
Thank you so much for your replies.

Thank you Carol for the explanation, I have been trying to trace the Pickerings in the 1901 census for Samuel and his son Samuel  born circa 1892, I have just had a look under the name Poyner for the same birth year in 1892 and low and behold only 1 result, both Samuel and Samuel the father whose occupation is an Iron Worker (Pudd) which ties in with his fathers occupation on the Marriage Certificate.

Hopefully I can find the Birth Certificate and tie it all together.

Thank you very much

Regards Dee

Thank you for your replies

Here is the image from the Certificate, now it looks like it says the name Poyner and HOW underneath  to me, which is interesting as one of the witnesses was an L Poyner.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Lancashire / Re: Edge Street, Hulme

Hi,

I'm new to this, i came across this post on google while trying to find where Duke Street was in Hulme as it pertains to a marriage certificate I have just received.

I too have the family name Jones it was my nan's maiden name and I have just received her grandparents Benjamin Jones and Mary Hoyle's marriage certificate in 1868 and apparently they were both residing at Duke Street Hulme at the time of the marriage. Benjamins fathers name is Thomas Jones and was wondering if we are looking for the same family.

Hi Ivan

Thank you very much for your help and pointing me in another direction as to how to try and get around my problem.

I think I am going to have to travel down to Staffordshire and search the Parish records for Wetton to see if I can find a birth entry for Solomon to find out who his parents are sometime in the future.

Thank You

Regards

Dee
