Hiya  -  sorry - been otherwise engaged i.e. working all hours - her parents at the time of her death stayed in Bell Street?  Just to let you all know I got the picture - she looks so lovely, fresh faced and a nice genuine person.  Have been speaking with one of the Petfield relations and discovered Douglas (in the nicest possible way - her murderer) and he died in 1979 in Morningside.  have found out quite a bit more about him and he seems to have had a terribly sad life before my g-a-agnes and spent the remaining 50 years in an asylum institution.  Eva

Hi Billy - thought I was getting somewhere - have phoned lots of folks and only the Crematorian Society could tell me she definately wasn't cremated.  Glasgow Council says they will search which will be at a cost of £12.36 per half hour - am willing to pay but thought before I forked out more money I'd post a look up request.  Actually  think I may have subsidised all the councils in scotland for family research over the last six months.  Everyone has been very helpful but basically keep getting sent to the Mitchell Library.  Do you think it's best to just give them more money - would that be an easier route - don't want to cause anyone any more work than they need.  It's Agnes Young died at 48 Gallowgate in Glasgow on 1st July 1929 (murdered by an insane seaman).  Her residential address was 116 Drygate, Glasgow.  Unfortunately I wouldn't know one area of Glasgow from another so have no idea what cemetaries are in the area.  All advise welcome.  I think I've pretty much hit panic mode since we're getting so close and I can't get any time off work before july to get the the Library myself.  Eva

Leighton - sorry pressed post before I meant to - was the Times a Glasgow newspaper at the time?  Can I look online at their archives?  The credit card is out again....

Hi - thank you, yes, I have seen this.  This was my great aunt.  She did have a son but he never knew about his mother and he has long since passed away.  We're hoping that somewhere in Glasgow there is a grave for her so that we can pay our respects on the anniversary which is 1st July (80 years this year).  I'm trying to find where she was buried - but as it is a 'big skeleton in the closet' and was so long ago all options point to going to Mitchell Library to trace local papers for the obituary if there was one.  We got the information via the Scotsman online archives (yet more money - I've spent a fortune) but they don't have anything else on her.............eva
