To ssimpso and others,

Here's what I have, after a chat with my Mother:

Charlie and George Moore operated C & G Moore in Glasgow. Charlie Moore was married to my Grand Father's sister Margaret (I think). Margaret had at least two other sisters, Elizabeth and Mary. Charlie Moore had one son who died in WW I. Elizabeth (GA Bessie had no children & Mary was never married) - again I stand to be corrected.

So - Richard Simpson (my Grandfather) came home from the war (WW I) and with no job, joined C & G Moore. Charlie and George had a disagreement and Charlie left and started Charles Moore's. George continued with C & G for a wee while, but later joined up with competitor Joseph Dunn to form Dunn and Moore.

With no heirs, Charlie finally let Richard buy into the company and eventually buy it.

Richard Simpson married Nora Simpson and had 4 sons: Richerd (Dick), Glen, James (Jimmy) and my father, Charles Moore Simpson.

Dick: Leonora and Richard
Glen: MArgaret and Elizabeth
Jimmy: Russel and Victoria
Charles: Chales and Glen.

Hope this helps,

CMS jr.

Hi, My name is Charels Moore Simpson. My Grandfather was Richard Simpson. After my Grandfather's death my Father and his 3 brothers ran "Charles Moore's" originally from the Gorbals in Glasgow and subsequently from Lawmoore street following the fire. It was My Uncle Glen (second eldest) who had daughters Elizabeth and Margaret.

By the way, why the interest?

Charles Moore simpson JR
