I'm trying to find out a bit more of my grandads second wife, Doris May Neal -b.1903 I believe.
She married Albert T.J.Facer (b.1901) in Sep.qtr of 1927 and he died in 1933 and is buried at Rushden cemetary in Northamptonshire.
I'd like to know more about the Neal family as well as the Facers.
Can anyone help ?

Thanks Pam. Don;t think she thought of trying Horncastle library. As I say she's new to all this and really hasn't a clue where to start.
I'll pass all this on to her in the new year anyway and see how she gets on.
Once again, many thanks

No - she doesn't have a copy of it and has tried at the library but must have asked the wrong questions or something...she didn't get to look at it but someone told her about it from what I gather. She knows little about this chap other than what I've put on here and wants to know things like, did he marry and were there children etc.
She is new to all this sort of thing and really doesnt know where to begin so I said I'd ask for some help on her behalf.
Can't get in touch with her now until after new year but I'll ring her again then

I'm trying to find, for a friend of mine who doesn't have access to the internet........

William Laming - b.April 9th 1923 Baumber Lincs,
He worked at Hemingby Mill and on May 8th 1945 there was an article in the Horncastle News about him as a follow up from a former article in the Old Lincolnshire Chronicle or Echo (not sure which)
He was a corporal in the catering section but regiment not known I'm afraid.
Sorry its a bit vague but its the only info my friend had.
Thankyou

You might get some info on places in Rushden on here
www.rushdenheritage.co.uk   or google in Rushden Hearts and Soles.
Its a fairly new site but they have the census for around there. some memorial details...........all sorts.
Good luck. I used to live in Rushden myself

Oh the memories...............my brothers meccano that I just loved though can't remember making anything special out of it. He never let me have a go with his crystal set......what a meanie..............lol
All the board games used to come out at Christmas.....ludo, snakes and ladders and lottor -home version of bingo/lottery. My brother had an old conjuring set (I've got it now Dad's died - brother didn't want anything). It was always Dad who was the conjurer and I seem to remember actually believing that he shoved a nail through his finger..................lol
The Man from Laramie ?  Oh I remember that !
Suddenly I'm starting to feel a little bit old..................lol

I've got an illustrated bible with no hard cover at all unfortunately. I remember going with my gran to collect it from an old lady's house in the village. The old lady had died, leaving no family friends and neighbours were allowed to have her belongings. Gran being a big church woman opted for the bible..........I used to love looking at it because of the pictures. It had all the photo mounts for family details but sadly they were never completed and it now sits in her old bible box with the hard bound bible (no illustrations) that was hers, along with several prayer books.

The Rushden History Site now has details of marriages, baptisms etc. listed so its worth a look. It's not complete as yet but a lot of stuff there.
Google in 'Rushen Hearts and Soles' and you get there
