Somerset / WHELLER/WHEELER/WELLER - Huish Episcopi
« on: Saturday 26 November 05 20:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have come to the proverbial brick wall and wonder if there is anyone who would be willing to help me?  I have a Walter Wheller ch 1797 who married twice firstly to unknown and Secondly to a Ruth Sweet in 26 Dec 1822.
Walter had a daughter called Martha (ch 30 May 1824 Huish Episcopi) who married Henry Thorne 15 Mar 1869 at Huish Episcopi .
Martha had quite a few illigitimate children before she married Henry Thorne.  One being a Ruth Wheller born 1840 Huish Episcopi, I would like to find out who the others were.  Also who was William Wheller born 1851?  Was he Martha's brother?
The same names seem to appear through the Centuries, Walter, William and Athaliah.  I have two Athaliah Whellers one ch 8 Jul 1828 and another born 30 Jul 1820, can anyone confirm who their parents where?  Regards Polly

« on: Sunday 10 April 05 20:22 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for replying so quickly.  Have been having a look this afternoon to see if I can find my John Jacobs (Sometimes Jacob) who's father was Hyman Jacobs born around 1840's.  All the Hyman's I have come across are Tailors all born in Poland.  So I am guessing that mine also would be the same.  If you can give me more details on yours I see what I can find.  Maybe you can do the same for me.  I am also looking for a Winslow who was a well known boxer.  He was known either as the boy Winslow or the Winslow boy (family legend).  You can email me direct on Email removed by Moderator to prevent Spamming

Regards Pauline

Hi this may be a coincidence but I am researching the name of Jacobs, Recently I have just purchase a marriage cert for a John Jacobs who married a Rebekah Winslow.  John's address is given as 2 Raymore Place Heneage street.  His father was Hyman Jacobs.  Rebekah was the dau of William Winslow an engineer.  John Jacobs sometimes went by the name of Jacob Jacobs he was born around 1861, I have two births around that time, Dec quarter of 1862 or Mar quarter of 1861.  Would love to hear from you.  Regards Pauline

Is there anyone who would help me find a Hyman Jacobs?  I have his son John Jacobs who married a Rebekah Winslow (dau of William Winslow) 2 July 1883 Parish Church, Christ Church, Spitalfields.  John was born Mar quarter of 1861 London City or Dec quarter of 1862.  John real name could have been Jacob Jacobs,  the couple seem to have had a habit of changing their christian name.  I am also looking for William Winslow (as abo.ve).  In 1901 John & Rebekah were living at Thorparch Road. The family legend says that a relative of Rebekah's was a well known boxer who went by the name of The "Winslow boy" or The "boy Winslow" Or a similiar alias.  I would be very greatful for any assistance.  Regards Pauline

I am looking for the parents of Margaret (Maggie) Hamilton born 11th Sept 1884 North Motherwell Colliery, her parents are given as Hugh Hamilton & Jane Jackson.  Hugh was born around 1850's Armadale West Lothian.  Jane was supposed to have been born around 1850 in England according to 1891 & 1901 Census.
I know that Hugh's parents were William Hamilton & Christina Morris, I have found children of a William Hamilton & Christina Morris but they were born at Bathgate between 1869 - 1873 but no Hugh Hamilton.   A William Hamilton & Christina Morris were married 17 Jul 1868 Bathgate.  But I dont know if this is my couple, can anyone help me?
