Dear Shane
Many thanks for all your help! I've progressed so much in my research with your (and aghadowey and LH's) aid.
I'm going to have to bite the bullet and talk to my surviving relatives - haven't talked to me since my folks deaths in 2008 - families, can't live with them, can't research without them  ;D
Joining here is one of the best things I have ever done - just hope that I can help other people in the future.
Slainte/Shalom,
Cal

Many thanks for the info. I had found the info for Timothy on http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie , but for some reason I didn't find George  ???
Both my parents died in 2008 and I have little to work with as my mother destroyed most of the family photos and documents during the early stages of Alzheimer's.
However, I'll keep plodding on!
I don't where abouts you are, but if you ever need anything looking up/researching in the UK - especially in the Tyneside/North East areas of England let me know and I'll help in any way I can. My local family history society has a lot of  resources in it.

Cork / Re: gravestones in Cobh (Queenstown)?

Hi Paul,
The database is apparently in the hands of the Great Island Historical Society:
"This society has a data base of over 10,000 people buried in the Clonmel (Old Church) Graveyard at Cobh (formerly Queenstown), including 170 of those from the Lusitania sinking. Dates from: 1698 to 1984. They will check their records free of charge (include something for postage)." (http://kieranmccarthy.ie/wordpress/?p=536     Eddie Buckley, 021 4811903)
Great Island Historical Society, 5 Aileen Terrace, Cobh, Co. Cork

Hope this is helpful

Limerick / Desmond/Buckley of Ardagh
« on: Sunday 08 May 11 17:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone is also researching Desmond or Buckley family from the Ardagh area. My maternal grandfather was Timothy Desmond (1869-1933 I believe). He married Margaret Buckley and they ended up in Cobh. He had a brother George (b1871)
Cheers,
Cal.
