Hi Laura...The first one looks like it could be and 1860s Carte De Visite copy of a lithograph of a sketch ...the second is either a tinted Ambrotype,Tintype or Daguerrotype late 1850s or early 1860s and I think the last one is 1870s...Jim may be on later and will be more accurate:

Carol

1st. one could be anytime 1820's-40's so would fit with someone born around the 1780's.
The print looks early 1900's.
2nd. one an 1850's Ambrotype as Carol mentioned. difficult to be more precise as this was pretty much the uniform of that decade however I suspect mid-late.
The last has a start date of late 1870's. The man's jacket style suggests 1880's.
If you have this we need to see all of it as then we can narrow down the date.

Thank you both.  :)

There is another photograph that I'm 99% sure is the middle lady inscribed on the back it says "Charlotte, the best looking of the family, G." -Which is interesting, as her husband's name was Henry.  My great x 3 grandmother's name was Charlotte Newton/Brookes, so that's why I assumed it was her.  There is a photo in the case alongside Charlotte, who I guessed was probably Henry, but I only have a small image:

Is there a chance it could be from the 1860s or would you say 1850s is definite?

It's my grandad who holds all of the photographs, but I think the image of the bottom one is the full photograph unfortunately.

Hello,

I have some photographs of ancestors and I'm pretty sure I know who's who but if I knew when the photos were likely to have been taken, it would help.  :)

This isn't a photo, but I reckon her to be my great x 5 grandmother, born around 1785:

Most likely my great x 3 grandmother, born 1839:

I think these are my great great grandparents, born in the early to mid 1860s:

If anyone could help me out, I'd be very happy.

Thanks!  ;D

Hello everybody,

I'm collecting information about the lives of soldiers who survived the Battle of the Somme, in order to create a series of monologues that will be performed at an event marking the anniversary of the end of the campaign.

If anyone is willing to speak to me about relatives who fought in the Somme I would love to hear from you!

Laura

Hello, I'd forgotten about this.  Have you found your papers?  The Corbett study group seems to have disappeared off the internet so I can't email Jean Noble about getting another copy of my tree at the moment. :/

Ok, thank you that would be great and I have eighty pages of our family tree in detail (starting from William 1680) if you want it? (From the Corbett Study Group).  I'm on holiday now so sorry if you reply and I don't answer. :)

Wow really?  I've been trying to find a link with the Norman family but as I said even in the 1600s our Corbett family appears to have been poor.  It would be exciting if we could find that link though (I'm very interested in Medieval history), what makes you think the line could be traced back to Roger?

Thanks for the replies.  We must be related then Chris!

I lost the family tree I was sent, I need to ask for it again  ::) .  I can remember the first four which were:

William married Eliza
Thomas married Elizabeth Pritchard
William  married Jane Judgson (?)
William married (?)

Not hard to remember the male side lol.  I'm so annoyed my computer went funny and I lost everything, but as I said I can ask to have it sent through again.  Alyson my family were all caol miners too, so you know of a Thomas Corbett in your family tree who was mayor of Shrewsbury?  He pops up as a notable character in mine so if he does in yours we have the same family.

For the William born 1680 records guess that his parents may be yet another William (born around 1660) and Jane, is that how far you got Chris?  Does your family tree match mine so far up there ^^^ or are you descended from their other children?
