Sussex / Re: Harold Pritchard 1907-1990

Thank you for the suggestions. I have progressed quite a bit. I have got Muriel's death certificate  today- her maiden name was Thorburn - born in Liverpool. Her death was registered by a son - Brian John Pritchard. So I can now move on with this info. I have contacted Bexhill Library and they are on the case to find the death notices as they have an Obituary Index of notices in their local paper. Can see how I am going to spend the weekend now with this new info. I have been e-mailing people via Genes Reunited but no responses!! Many thanks again Roy.

I intend to order Muriel's death certificate which should give me her maiden name and maybe an idea if they had children - hopefully if they did one of them will have registered her death.

All very intriguing as other branches of the Pritchards I have now spoken to had NO idea that Harold even existed. Then when he came to light in the 1911 Census, people assumed he must have died in childhood!! I just wonder who else might pop up in the future that I had no idea about!!

I now have obtained the death certificate of Harold and it is definitely the correct Harold - born in Liverpool. Died in Bexhill on Sea on 10th April 1990. His wife was Maud Muriel Pritchard. So maybe someone might have known her? Harold was a Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy.

Birthplace: Liverpool

Parents: Achason Pritchard and Laura Pritchard (nee Priest)

Siblings: Clifford (b1905) and Harold (b1907).

Many thanks.

Sussex / Harold Pritchard 1907-1990

I have only just discovered that my father had a brother - Harold Pritchard born 1st March 1907 in Liverpool. Through Ancestry.co.uk  I can see there is a death of a Harold Pritchard who had the same birthday and died in April 1990 in Hastings and Rother, East Sussex. Just thought I would put a post on here as a longshot that someone might have known him?

Any connection would be much appreciated as Harold has come as a great surprise. His parents were Achason [Archie] and Laura Pritchard. Siblings May and Clifford.

Many thanks.

Thanks to all the info Suz gave me from the 1911 Census things have moved on greatly in the past two weeks. Also Sefton Council have been brilliant. To cut to the chase i.e the important developments: I now know my grandmother, Laura Pritchard, is in the same grave as Grandad Archie; I also found out when she died. Having got her death certificate I know that May registered her death and May's married name was Crook. So maybe this may help.

Thanks again, Suz, re 1911 Census.

The funeral info re Achie and Dad - I have it but does not tell me much. In recent weeks have found where Archie is buried and visited Bootle cemetery. The headtsone is weathered so cannot learn much from that either but am now getting a search done by the Council to find out who is in the plot. I am intrigued by Harold - maybe he died young and will be in the grave?

Suz - thank you SO much for the quick reply. I did not think the 1911 Census was available for another 2 years? This MUST be them - as Laura did have a sister Mary and her maiden name was Priest. Never heard of Harold before!! Grandad Archie was probably at sea when the Census took place - he was a shipwright. Many thanks for this - I shall explore further.
