Hi Mary

Thanks for the info, I'd almost given up on Mary.  This sounds promising as there were a few ag. labs. in the family somewhere.

Thanks C U .  It isn't, unfortunately,  mine's somewhere in Essex.  I've had one rather like this before, got the marriage and the death but couldn't find  the birth.  In the end I had to pay someone to find it.  Never mind, I shall keep trying with this one, they've got to be somewhere!

England / Missing marriage

I am looking for a marriage between William Russell and Elizabeth Mathew, late 1830s-early 1840s, possibly in Essex as their children were born in that area.   (Nothing on Familysearch, FreeBMD or 18370nline.)

Thank you Corkcutter, I'll try that.  I hope they aren't too tied up with preparations for a certain wedding!

Hello Suziet
Just read your post about Alice.  I have a Mary Ann who "took in mangling".  Appears on a later census as Retired Laundress.  Sounds as if your Alice and my Mary had similar jobs.

More boat-builders - one had his own boat-yard in Gorleston.  (If anyone has heard of, or knows anything about, Darby's Hard I would be interested to hear.)  Sailmakers, a wharfinger, and a fisherman.
I think my g.g.gran's husband was an ag.lab.  On her death certificate (if it is hers!) she is an ag. lab's widow.  Granddad was a master butcher, and had his own shop.  And though I can't match a Premier, my husband thinks his step-mother was employed as a servant at Buckingham Palace.

Hello Mo
Glad I could be of help.
If you are lighting a candle for your Gran and my brother you sound as if you are a Catholic lady.  You must be feeling very sad today, with the Pope so ill.  Although I don't share your faith you and all other Catholics have my sympathy.  He did a great deal to towards getting religions together, and the Church will be poorer without him  Let's hope that his successor will be as popular.

Hello Mo
Glad I could be of assistance.
