World War One / Re: Royal Navy or Army England?

Dear Wendi,

Sorry, yes it is written as Hampshire.  Our Arthur definately put his date of birth back.  He also put it back on the Australian record.  His Marriage is correct to other documents.  He came to Australia in 1925.  I found a scribbled note WW1...1124 put, 33rd Bat.  Would that make any sense????

Just found out that he won a boxing title on his ship.??

Thanks, I will keep digging

World War One / Royal Navy or Army England?
« on: Friday 16 July 10 13:05 BST (UK)  »
Our Grandfather Arthur Leslie Frizzell was in Australia WW2. In his records he states that he previously served in WW1 for 10 yrs in 2 nd Btn Bampshire Regt, 4 years active service. (as written).   Could anyone find out anything of his history in the services in England.  We were told he was in the Royal Navy WW1, his family were all Army.  He spoke of his ship being sunk and he floated for a few days and had a metal plate put in his head.  He came to Aust in the 1920's

I am unsure if his WW1 is Royal Navy or Army.   ???

Any help on him would be appreciated.

Help.  Our grandfather Arthur Leslie Frizzell was in WW2 Army Australia.  He was supposed to have been in the English Navy in WW1.  Story goes that the ship was torpedoed and he was in the sea for about 3 days.  I cannot find any record.

His Australian record says that he was born 04 Jun 1895 at a place called Aldershot wherever that is ???

Anything found would be appreciated. ;D

Hi Lones,

My reasons for my pick is shape of eyes, set of eyes, tip of nose and distance of nose to lips.  Had another look and still see her the same way.
