Thanks Monica.  I rechecked some of my IGI info and have a James Bowman and Marion Addie.  I think the death cert is the way to go though to get a more certain name although it is dependent on the accuracy of the informant even then.  I did get the will but not the death certificate at the same time. Silly me!  Sue

Thanks Monica..  Wondering if anyone knows anything about where Marion Bowman was born?  I cannot seem to unlock that mystery yet.  IGI listed father as Robert.

Also burial place for Charles Forman son of Marion.  He was a salt maker of Tranent. Cheers Serene

Dear Katherine, our ancestor was George Forman who build Mrs Formans in 1841. I think they are listed as living at Blucher Hall in the 1841 census. George's wife was Marion Bowman. I have a copy of Mrs Formans C.1934 will try to find and attach asap. regards Serene

David, i don't have any information on a Margaret Leownie at present but is is possible that she and my Agnes and William were related.  Shall keep you in mind if I discover anything.  Have a look at a Glenisla connection. Sue

Lynda, a photograph would be fantastic.  I was reluctant to even ask if anyone could see if it was still standing.  We did a Google search and there is a photo of the inn on a list of restaurants and pubs in the Inveresk area.  We also have one about circa 1924.  I also have a photo of this Mrs Forman nee Marion Bowman.

I notice you have Blyth listed in you family  list.  I have a GGG grandmother a Lilias Blyth daughter of James Blyth sailor, and Agnes Lownie of Newburgh, Fife. Is there any connection?

I await you photographic endevours, best wishes
Sue

Thanks Lynda for the comment re Mrs Forman's.  She must have been quiet a personality to run the place for 40 years or more after George died. Sue

 Dear   Christine
I have Lownie or Leownie(alt spelling) in my direct line.
The earliest is the birth of Agnes daughter of William Lownie in opr born 12-5-1775 in Genisla.  She is next found getting married in Newburgh 19-05-1800 to James  Blyth. I have copies from the registers although they are not easy to read.
I thought this might provide you with a clue to the location of the family prior to the1841 census.  Newburgh is in Fife I  think. Hope this helps .
Sue.

Thanks so much Fiona,
this is indeed our ancestors.  Our George is the one who died in 1904  Melbourne.  His brother James must have visited them or traveled with them so now I will check the passenger lists again.  They arrived in Melbourne January 1st 1855, with a 3 day old baby who was the next generations George!!
There is such  a lot of detail about the family here and as I had census details about their whereabouts and livelihoods this adds to the picture I had of the family.
I have a photo of the Marion Bowman mentioned.  She is the Mrs Forman of the current Mrs Forman's Inn at Inveresk.
I had no idea where they might have been buried and as we are in Australia hadn't thought it would be likely I would ever find out.
What a super site this is. If I can be of any help to anyone researching I am happy to try.  You are Marvellous . S
