Hello Hails29, my great-grandfather was Louis Alfrederick Williams, son of James Slape - the mystery man. Nice to see someone else is interested in the family...Angie

Thank you Trish, some fantastic info to look over. My James emigrated to Aus in 1857 (not convicts) and his daughter Mary Ann was born in Norfolk in 1853 and came over as a child. His wife was Maria Clarke (married 1852).
Looks like his mother, Annie, is complicated. I'm away for 10 days but when I return I'll try to weave this lot together!

Thanks again Yokel, this is great info. I've now managed to work out that this Richard Hudson is the son of Richard Hudson (1710) and Elizabeth Theodorick (1711) who married on 1/11/1732. I will keep hunting! (And any more hints gratefully appreciated if you feel like it...)

Hello,
Not sure if this thread is still 'live' but I am interested in James Oakley (my 3GGF). His daughter Mary Ann is my 2GGM.
James' mother Annie is a mystery and I'd love to know if anyone has tracked her parents?
Thanks
Angie

My favourite name that I've found while looking through old parish registers is Theophilus Sodhunter. Wish he was in my family...  :)
Was that really Sodhunter, not a mutation of Todhunter (tod meaning fox) ?

Was a while ago and it just stuck in my memory...didn't copy it so can't even remember the parish...

Thank you, LizzieL you've given me a few ideas that hadn't occurred to me. In all rate book records in Melbourne he was a bootmaker and his wife ended up becoming a milliner.

Hi,
My 3x great-grandparents were creative, some of their offspring are:

Asenath Amelia
Uriel Oswin
Rodelinda Rowena
Allette Lovinia

so they are easy to track.

My favourite name that I've found while looking through old parish registers is Theophilus Sodhunter. Wish he was in my family...  :)
