Kirkcudbrightshire / Re: info needed on Mollance & Queenshill

Hi Helen,
The saga continues!
Have a look at Ancestry.co.uk for details about Thomas Johnstone - he was born about 1776 in Kirkcudbrightshire/died 1856 in Tongland, Kirkcudbrightshire (Ringford village is within the parish of Tongland.)
You will also find more info. there about his three daughters and their families.
Leggatcheek is still standing and lived in and certainly at one time was an estate house for Queenshill - Hope this helps you, Sue.

If anyone else out there has/knows anything historical relating to Ringford or Tongland please let me know, thank you.

Kirkcudbrightshire / Ringford Village Hall - 150 years anniversary
« on: Thursday 01 July 10 18:43 BST (UK)  »
Our village hall in Ringford was built in 1861 by James Beaumont Neilson of Queenshill and the hall committee are planning to celebrate the 150th anniversary next year by holding a public exhibition of local history.
We are within the parish of Tongland so anything relating to either Ringford and/or Tongland will be of interest. Please can anybody help?

Re. Mollance and Queenshill and the Neilson family; our village hall in Ringford was erected by James Beaumont Neilson in 1861 and we will be celebrating it's 150th anniversary next year with a local history exhibition organised by the hall committee. A copy of the Neilson family tree or any other information of any kind would be most useful, can you help please?

I would be really interested to know more about the history of Barcaple House and indeed about anything and everything associated with Ringford and Tongland. Ringford hall will be celebrating it's 150th anniversary next year and the hall committee plan to hold an exhibition of local history. Can anybody help please?
