Dublin / Re: Edward Keating
« on: Tuesday 23 October 12 16:22 BST (UK)  »
Mary Anne Keating sometimes spelt with an e on the end, Married John Moore labourer on 3 Nov 1879 at St. Nicholas Of Myra Church, Dublin, Ireland. Her father is given as Edward Keating (hatter) and her mother as Mary( no maiden name) . John & Mary Anne had 4 children John Joseph, Margaret, Mary Esther and Alice. John was a driver for the British Army in the early part of their marriage and the children were born at various army camps. JJ in Dublin, Margaret in Aldershot, ME in Woolwich Arsenal and Alice in Co.Tyrone.
John & Mary Anne are both in the Irish census of 1901 and 1911 you will find these free on the internet at Irish National Archives. Inevitably Mary Anne has listed her birth as in Limerick in 1901 and Dublin City in 1911 to confuse things. I have tried all the on-line sources to try and find the marriage of Edward & Mary but have not succeeded so far but will keep on.
My mother was a daughter of Mary Esther.
It has taken me a long time to get all this as you know Irish facts are hard to find. So let's keep in touch and see where we get to.

I am trying to locate my ggg grandfather James Robinson weaver b.abt 1799 married Hannah surname unknown. Had at least 2 children Watson b.1830 and Margaret b.1834 in Lylo, Seagoe parish. I believe that James and Hannah may have been Presbyterian and may have married in Lurgan or Portadown Presbyterian churchs. Has anyone any ideas on how I can proceed?

Talk to as many living reletaves and get as much factual information of places dates and names as you can.  Get some reasonable family tree software which will help a lot. You can make enquiries of the parish of Seagoe around which several generations of your family seems to be based from office[at]seagoe.fsnet.co.uk Another good site to locate generations of irish families is www.familysearch.org
Let us know how you get on

There are a few Dawson Robinsons in the records of Seagoe Parish which is on the outskirts of Portadown. I believe that you are probably related to a line of them. It was somewhat common to call a child by the maiden name of a wife for example and then that became a regular family name. I believe my first name Watson came from this practice and has continued through the generations. I have at least 23 relations currently whose first name is Watson.

Yes Thankyou for that. I have those records but am looking for Watson's mother and father James or Jas Robinson and Hannah (but no surname) They are listed in the Seagoe records but only as parents to Watson's birth as Jas & Hannah of Lylo. I am trying to get a lead on their marraige or births which do not appear to be in the Seagoe records.
Appreciate the help

Yes Otto I have looked through them. That's where I found Watson & Margaret!
James & Hannah are there as parents and are buried there but there is no record of either their marraige or births in the Seagoe registers.
Thanks for advice.
