Seoras.... Thanks so much for posting the link for the photo, I hadn't seen it or come across it despite googling everywhere for images, nothing came up at all so it's great to see this :)

Ormus.... Yes I know there isn't any extra info on the certificates but just the names would be good enough for me, I've been trying to find their marriage for a long time without success until I was sent the Morpeth Herald Golden Wedding info and image from another family researcher, now I know why...I hadn't even heard of Irregular border marriages until then :)

I'll try to post the image from newspaper later today after work.

Thank you once again for your replies :D

Jump in all you want! I never did find my marriage; maybe they just lived in sin.

Awww, I hate when you can't find something...I'm sure I read somewhere that the registers or lists of names were incomplete and some were lost "something along those lines anyway" I have fingers crossed in the hope mine can be found.

Many thanks for your reply  :)

Hello, I was browsing for information on Irregular marriages at Lamberton Toll as I have ancestors who were married there in 1854 and I came across your thread, I hope you don't mind that I've posted here but could I ask you to do a look up for me please if you don't mind.

I'm looking for Thomas Appleby who married Elizabeth Newton in 1854...I have an announcement of their Golden Wedding in Morpeth Herald 1904 saying they were married at Lamberton Toll 50 years earlier.

Many thanks in advance and apologies once again for jumping in on your thread  :)

Wow again, that's great advice, I just checked out my local Library and in their Family History Section, as well as the usual Microfiche and Micofilm they also give free access to Ancestry.com ...wonderful to know that and the bonus is it's only five minutes from where I live, I'll be booking some sessions for sure. pity it's closed on Wednesdays ;D

Thank you "so" much for your help, it really is appreciated muchly   :D

Thank you for the information on the Absent Voters Rolls, I went to check it out at the Durham  County Records office and found that unfortunately.......The Absent Voters' Lists probably no longer survive for:
South Shields
Stockton on Tees
Sunderland"

I still tried to find something but got nothing for Sunderland at all.

Thank you so much for trying to help me, would have been great if it was there. :)

Thank you so much for your help and the link, I've found out that George Armstrong is quite a common name in the DLT and narrowing him down is quite difficult so your advice is appreciated, heading over to check out the link now.

Many thanks once again  :)

World War One / DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY WW1 LOOK-UP PLEASE
« on: Wednesday 23 January 13 16:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I wonder if anyone could help me please....I'm trying to find any Military records on my Grandfather who served with The Durham Light Infantry in WW1..He was in Ypres "possibly 1917", though I'm not 100% sure of the date.

His Name was George Armstrong born Sunderland 1896  and in 1911 he was living at 24 Rutland Street, Sunderland Co.Durham (but he may not have been there when he was in the army) I know he moved to Willington Quay at some time but I'm unsure if this was before or after the war... His Father was named George William Armstrong (his Mother was Anne Armstrong although she may not have been alive then)

Any look-ups or help with this would be very much appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance  :)
