Devon Lookup Requests / Re: Parents Look Up (Mares)
« on: Tuesday 03 April 18 19:40 BST (UK)  »
Frederick & Annie had at least 2 other children - Charles born in 1893 (probably October) & Bessie, born on Christmas Day 1890 - who were baptised in South Molton parish on 23 October 1893.

Correction! May strengthen hypothesis that the William King was Mary's father, but not that the Sarah was her mother! (Couldn't get back to earlier messages when replying - am new to Rootsweb - and got interrupted part-way.)

Hi, Ian,

Have just looked on www.familyseach.org. Think Mary's baptism is on there

Mary King, born 21 AUG 1814   bap 17 FEB 1815   Diseworth, Leicester,

Parents William King and Mary (which seems to strengthen the hypothesis!)

You may be able to find their marriage if you're lucky!

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Re: 1841 census lokup
« on: Tuesday 07 April 09 11:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Pat,

I know it's a while since you posted your request, but I have some info which may interest you. I've only just joined Rootsweb, so can't PM you. (Apologies to mods - realise that some of which follows is "off-thread")
Your William Hayes isn’t on the 1841 census because the enumerator missed a couple of houses! However, he is in Trade directories. In 1841 listed as Fanlight maker at 1, Pindar Place. (Earliest entry I have found for him is 1833, at another address in St Pancras area.)

I have an ancestor - Edward Hayes - living nearby in 1841, whose occupation (on census) is given as fanlight (something illegible), so it’s a reasonable assumption that Edward worked for William in 1841 and that the two were related. Edward used the middle name Crundwell and was born around 1814, but I haven’t found a birth record. Does this tie-in to anything you have?

Have also found census records for a John Hayes who looks like William's father. (Have read your posting on Oxford Wills thread.) Do you want details? Also later Census details for William, including his second wife (Rose) and family.

Jo
