HI,
This is Cowpen Grove or Grove House, It stood where the Miners cottages are, in the "dip" across from the Newsagent. I know this because two of my Aunts had rooms there after they were married. I used to go there to play with my cousins. This was in the fifties. My aunts lived upstairs across the landing from each other. As a child I thought it was "spooky". The front door knob seemed huge to my small hand, the door really did creak when it opened. The hall was dark with one dim light not reaching very far. Dr. Leopold Fothergill and his family used to live there before it was sold and then the rooms let.
