hi syd sent a message hope u got it. if not here goes again. what i saw on your message that you wanted to know were the storm was. The storm i believe was in the north sea and there was about 14/5 ships that was affected, one which was called the mispah which my g/grandad was on. The storm happened in december in the year of 1894/5 which happened to be when my grandad was born so he never saw his father. hope this was of help if not hope it was intresting. If you want to know more about the storm and loss of lives the hull daily mail covered it quite well.

Hi am looking for any info on a THOMAS J CAWOOD born approx 1888 in hull?. he married AGNES N NICHOLS born 1893? in boston lincs. The marriage was in 1912 in hull. He was brought up by his grandma in spivey st. We believe that she went into a poor house. We have been told that thomas mother went round the pubs as a dancer/singer but that we can not confirm. Also we have been told but can't confirm it that he was a member of a gang called the SILVER HATCHET GANG. Any info on this would be of great help to us and much appreciated.

 thanks again

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: whitham/brown/farmer/wardle familys

thanks nell for replying the area of the country is SHEFFIELD. The earliest dates i av is 1793 and1827 anything before or after them dates for the brown/wardle/farmer family would be great. Anything on the whitham family which includes the names WILLIAM/HENRY/ANN ESTHER/ANN/THOMAS/MARY/JULIA. All the female names were married to a WHITHAM. I am after people pre 1827. Also i forgot the surname STANIFORTH in my list of surnames. Hope i av given the details that you want. The males were all filesmiths/cutters ETC. I yhink WILLIAM was a farmer by trade but not 100% sure on that with him marrying MARY FARMER.
thanks again
