Hi - - not sure how old your message is.

I have encountered the Dundass/Dildarg surname many times and can't provide an answer. In all my genealogy research, over 15 years now, I have never come across Dildarg again. My connection is with the STEEL's, who are my direct ancestors. David Steele married Elizabeth Dildarg in Menmuir in 1770. Scotlands People lists 5 children born to them in Lethnot and Navar. They are

1776 Isabel Mother's name Dildarg
1780 Joseph  Mother's name Dildarg
1783 John  Mother's name Dildarg
1788 James  Mother's name Dundass
1791 William  Mother's Name Dundass

Sorry James.................

My Lintrathen transcriptions don't go back back beyond 1770.

I have a record of the burial of a David Gowrie, aged 80, in 1788. He is purported to be the son of John Gowrie, sometime miller. Possible father of Margaret.

Hi James........saw your note on the Rootschat forum. Thomas DOUGLAS and Margaret GOWRIE are in my tree. Their daughter, Kathrine, b in 1782, married John WILSON in Lintrathen on 17 Jun 1805. They had 8 children, the 6th Helen, b in 1813, married William ROUGH in Forfar in 1838. William is my g-grandfather. I have lots of data on this line if you are interested.

Regards............Ian Rough
