If anyone has got stuck and spent numerous hours trying to find the name ‘Tollerfield’ on a census like I have been, then you might find this useful.

I have found that sometimes the name has been listed as Sollerfield, Totterfield, and even Sotterfield.

Hope this helps someone and saves him or her hours of searching.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Potts. I am stuck, can anyone help?
« on: Saturday 06 March 10 15:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Wondered if anyone can help me.

I am trying to trace my Grandfather’s side of the family in my tree, he was called Isaac Potts.

I have managed to trace the Potts’s back to William Potts b.1766 in Yorkshire.
He was married to Sarah Gregg; I do not know when or where she was born.

I have found him on 1841 census he was in a private asylum called 'moor cottage' in Nunkeeling With Bewholme, Yorkshire, aged 75.

I know he had a son called John Potts b.1795 in Yorkshire, he married Ann?
I do not know her maiden name but she was born in 1796 in Yorkshire and they had 5 children.

But that is where I get stuck.

Hi

Wondered if anyone can help me.

I am trying to trace my Nan’s family tree, she was called Elsie Vernon.

I have managed to trace the Vernon’s back to John Vernon b.1814 in Ecclesfield, Sheffield, Yorkshire. He was married to Mary Ann Rodgers b.1824 in Lowshire Green, Yorkshire and they had 7 children.

I know he had a sister called Mary Vernon b.1816 also in Ecclesfield and his parents were John Vernon & Mary ?? But that is where I get stuck.

I do not know Mary’s maiden name, when either of them was born or when and where they were married.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Ogram Family Tree
« on: Saturday 06 March 10 14:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am tracing my family tree and would like to contact anyone who has any information about the family/name Ogram within sheffield and/or Yorkshire area.

My tree goes back as far as 1520 but I am always on the lookout for more information and also looking to extend my tree.

I would also like to here from any distant relatives or anyone who has any Ogram stories.

Other close relative surnames in my tree are Almgill, Botterill, Camplin, Edeson, Marsh, Potts, Simmonite Tollerfield & Vernon

Thanks

Hi Paul :)

Thanks for your reply.

With regards to my reasearch, so far so good.

I have managed (like you with help) to get back to John Tollerfield b. 25/12/1791 Corfe Castle.

I know his parents were John & Elizabeth but do not know dates or places, if you have any ideas I would love to here them.

Kindest Regards

Karen

Hi

Yes we are related or should I say you are related to my Daughter, my Son and my ex-husband.

John Tollerfield and Ellen Hennessy were my ex-husband’s great, great grandparents.

John & Ellen had 7 children, they were: -

Mary Ann (1865)
William John (1872)
Frederick Charles (1873)
Daniel (1876)
Harry (1877) my ex’s great granddad.
Herbert (1879) your granddad
Job (1883)

If you look on either Ancestry.com or GenesReunited.co.uk I have my family trees,
the one on Ancestry has more detail.

I have managed to trace the Tollerfield line back to 1791, but I have become a little stuck, as there seems to be different spellings of the name Tollerfield and a lot called John.

If you know anymore I would be very interested, as I have said I have become stuck.

If you are not a member of either of the sites I have mentioned, I would happily send you a copy of the Tollerfield family tree, if you let me have your email address.

Kindest regards

Karen  :)

Hi

Can anyone help me this this question:-

I know John Tollerfield (Tollifield)b1824 married Ellen Hennessy on 07 Aug 1864 at St Mary, Dover, Kent, England as I have a copy of the marriage cert and I alsoknow he was a tailor.

This is where my query starts, on the OPC for Moreton for 1845 it shows a marriage of a John Tollifield marrying a Elizabeth Maria King and it says John is a Tailor, I am wondering if this is the same John and if he Ellen was his second wife.

If anyone can shed some light on this it would be a great help.

Thanks

Karen
