Antrim / Re: Crawford birth in Belfast...please
« on: Thursday 15 August 13 20:55 BST (UK)  »
I know the last post was some time ago, but here goes.

I've recently uncovered my Crawford family and have a John Crawford, from 1911 Census:
John Crawford. Baptist. 21yrs. Upholster. Single. Born in County Down.

His parents (my Great Grandparents) were:-
William Crawford. Head. Baptist. 62yrs. Commercial Trader Tea. Married. Born in County Down.
Jane Crawford. Wife. Baptist. 62yrs. Married 43yrs (10 children, 7 alive). Born in County Down.

One of their children was born in Glasgow, Scotland - which suggests Scottish roots.

Maybe there is a connection?

Regards; Phil Livingstone

I saw that Maureen updated this thread and I also have an update on my Crawford line, which makes clearer some potential links.

My Grandmother Letitia Patton Crawford was born 28 Jul 1880 in Newtownards (resitor), Down.
Her father was William Crawford, born 1849 in Newtownards, County Down. Married to Jane Brown.
Letitia had a number of siblings, most also born Newtownards.
The family were recorderd on 1871 Scottish Census in Glasgow, with William (aged: 22) named as a Hammerman (usually a metal worker or smith).

Hopefully ths may ring a few bells, at some point!

Regards; Phil

I am researching the same ancestor in 1940's; Frederick Dunbar Livingston, if anyone has any information?

On earlier request, I came across will of " George Stewart Gillespie" from 1905 at this address, if of interest.
If link works, see:-

Thanks Nick.
Take your point, but other co-incidences:
Thompson Livingston (who married Letitia Crawford) was born at Tullyhugh, Ballymore, Country Antrim - about 6 miles from Banbridge.
I know that my Livingston family moved to Belfast by 1901, from this area.
My Great Grandfather (James Edward, b. ) was a Railway Clerk and worked on the GNR, his father was Richard Livingston (farmer. b.~ 1853) from Ballmacranellin, Lurgan, County Armagh.
Won't discount connection, but agree - more data needed.
Regards; Phil.

I have a Crawford connection to my family through Marriage:

Letitia Patton Crawford [my grandmother], b. 1885 Northern Ireland, married: Thompson McBride Livingston in Blefast on 22 Nov 1905 (I have marriage certificate).

At this marriage, Letitia's father was listed as William Crawford - retired Recruiting Sergeant R,I,R. 3 Glenallon St, Belfast. Born. approx. 1854.

Other research suggests the following:-
William was married to Margarey Watt.
Siblings to Letitia were:- Lizzie Crawford, b. 1879 and Hugh Crawford, b.1894.
I believe that Lizzie married a John Donaldson, b.1879.
I located a Hugh Crawford birth date as follows:- 01 May 1894 - 62 Derwent Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Could these be related the Crawford's in this note?

Thanks; Philip Livingstone
