Sorry i dont know what the J initial stands for. I was hoping someone would be able to locate a death notice from the NZ Herald. My sons who were his pupils at the time  attended his  funeral service at St Patrick's Cathedra in Auckland. He was a young teacher and his death was over 55 years ago so he just might qualify for the Death Index. Thanks orkrad

Goodmorning   I have been searching for Peter's death in the NZ Herald and on BDM records without success. He was a  teacher at Auckland Grammar School and died suddenly at a school Soccer match in term three 1980.  I have some informationfrom AGS School list 1980 but would like to follow up  on the details. Regards Orkrad.

Renfrewshire / Re: Searching for Charles Devine

Thanks Murphyz for the detective work. The Mother of the  bride Catherine Tollan was Elizabeth Tollan  and also known as Bridget ! This makes family history research both interesting and totally frustrating from time to time. Charles Devine has still to be found. On his daughters marriage certificate it says he is deceased. Where and When is still unknown.  Regards Orkrad .

Thank you Murphy. I tried to download the record I remembered with the mother as PTOLOMY yesterday but couldnt find it on Scotlands People. I'm glad to know it exists as I wondered if I was having a senior moment.!  Regards Orkrad

Thanks to  all you Rootschatters for your continued interest in finding the elusive Charles Devine. I realised I posted some mis information. The two children of Charles were indeed Catherine and Anthony. Anthony was born in 1857. His birth appears  inthe Catholic registers of births and baptisms for the parish of St Johns Port Glasgow. His parents are Charles Devine and Elizabeth Taler/Toler. The sponsers are also named and the priest. There is no other information.
Anthony died at two months ( in 1857) and somewhere I have a record that his mother's name was given as Ptolomy ( which could have been misheard by the recorder). Unfortunately I cannot locate it now on Scotlands People under Statutory or Church records.
Charles Devine still eludes us.  Regards Orkrad

Renfrewshire / Re: Isabella Walker nee Cameron
« on: Monday 16 September 24 01:00 BST (UK)  »
There is an Isabella Walker in the 1871 census for Greenock. Her age is 60 . She may be yours. I cant find her on the 1881 census.
There is  however  a death for an Isabella Walker in Greenock in 1885. Her age is 75.
These details are on Scotlands People and I dont have any credits at present to  investigate  any further.
What is the source for the  information on Isabella's death her age and date?  Often family recollections are unreliable.  Good luck withyour search.  Regards Orkrad
