Hi Janet
You are more than welcome no trouble at all.

Re Esthers age, thats a hard one perhaps late 50's.

We have just found our disc, The Burial Index for Hollington Church in the wood.

The following you may find interesting:-

Bird Sarah Ellen k/a Annie (ashes only) age 88 buried 27.09.1988

Bird Thomas (ashes only) age 75 buried 03.06.1981

Bird Elizabeth age 69 buried 18.09.1923

Not sure if Elizabeth is a relation of yours, these are the only 3 Birds on the disc.

Regards
John

Hi Janet
Thanks for the private.
Just got backfrom Hollington
Edward Terrace is still there including no.1
I had a look at the flats where Tom and Annie moved to and it would have been no 1 or 3 Willingdon Avenue it's hard to tell because you just can't walk in and look.
We also went to Church In The Wood and found their grave. My wife has taken a photo and will e-mail it on to you with Esther's address
Thomas and Annie Bird are buried together.

I hope this has been of some use yo you.

All the best and good luck

John

Hi again Janet,

Well now I've got the bug.

I'm sure Edward Terrace was knocked down but now realize that it's still there maybe it was just their home that went I'm going to have a look to-mo and will let you know. I always thought that Hollington Youth Centre was build on the site but perhaps I'm wrong.
This has brought memories flooding back for me.
Going to do some detective work for you
Will let you know

Hi Janet,
Well I never
I grew up in Hollington and I new Tom and Annie Bird and you are correct they did live in Edward Terrace and when the Terraces were pulled down they moved to Willingdon Avenue not sure what number but I'm sure it was an early one.1-5 or something like that.
I would know the number if I went up there because I used to visit them a lot. Perhaps if I have time tomorrow i will go and have a look. They were family friends and we all used to go hop picking together.Annie Bird is buried in Hollington church In The Wood
I also remember Esther she was their daughter or granddaughter i also know where she lived but will not disclose it here.
Hope this sheds a little light on matters for you

All the best
John
