Hi Jean,

Thanks very much for your help (and the welcome). The Ann Ward marriage is too late I think (son Randal was born in 1783). The other two I'd come across already but didn't know where the marriages took place so that might help. Of course, either could be feasible, but I think the Sidebottom one is more likely (I simply can't imagine any reason why one would give one's child the first name Sidebottom unless it was a family name!). I suppose she might have been christened Hannah but called herself Ann?

Thanks again,
David

Hello,

I've only just stumbled across this board, so I'm not entirely sure how this offer to look up marriages works, but...

I've recently hit a bit of a brick wall. I'm looking for a John Bradbury (or Bredbury) born circa 1760 who married a Hannah. Her surname might be Sidebottom. He is from the Hyde/Newton area so they probably married at Mottram, sometime around 1780. The only problem is that there are a lot of John Bradburys knocking around at that time and an equal number of Hannah Sidebottoms. I've so far managed to find three John Bradburys and Hannahs/Anns (no surnames given, annoyingly) who could fit the bill and a John who married an Ann Sidebottom in 1778, but their son's baptism record definitely gives the mother's name as Hannah, not Ann. The Sidebottom bit I'm guessing at since their son named his first child Sidebottom Bradbury (what a wonderful name!).

Any help you can give would be hugely appreciated.

Thank-you,
David
