Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: BURTON - Castle Donington 1800's
« on: Sunday 22 August 10 12:08 BST (UK) »
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I am unable to find Hannah's parents or place of burial. I believe she was born in Shardlow (Castle Donington) - 1841 census, however, the only other Hannah Burton (born 1821) I have been able to find more details of, was born in Barton under Needwood which is about 16 miles (as the crow flies). I just wondered if this is the same person, & moved away because of having an illegitimate son. The Burtons from Barton under Needwood trace back to Ingenulf de Burton b 1042 (came over with William the Conqueror)

I am researching my family ancestors & would like to find out if Hannah was my great great grandmother, who moved to Castle Donington 1841 census. I would also like to know about her direct ancestors. I think I have found her father Thomas b1794, his father Thomas b1769 & his father Richard c1744 & this is as far back as i can go. Any help, much appreciated

Hi
I am now thinking that Hannah was Samuel's (b1841) mother, & your Samuel b1837 is son of Robert & Sarah

Hi
I have now had a closer look at a family folder (made up by my sister) & find the following:
Copy of Ernest's birth certificate & marriage certificate
Father = Samuel
Mother = Sarah (formerly Dooley)
I think you are correct in believing c1841 was the birth year of Samuel
I am trying again to establish the parents of Samuel
Your help is very much appreciated
Thank you for offer of further research at the rcords office.

Hi
I really don't know how to thank you for all your hard work.
To avoid more confusion
The lists of children I posted yesterday at 13:46 were taken from my sister's tree (she spent some time going round Derbyshire (2006), with my mother Joyce (Ernest's daughter) to gain more information.
a) Photo 1 shows (they all have very similar features)(all confirmed as aunts or uncles by mothers handwriting (except Ernest & his parents)
Annie
Alice
Fred
Lizzie
Ernest
Edie
+ parents (Samuel + Sarah)
b) Photo 2 (imagine taken at the same time - wearing same clothes)
Annie
Alice
Mary
Fred
Lizzie
Edie
Ernest
+ parents (Samuel + Sarah)
Thank you once again
