Thanks Haywood & Jonwarrn,

I thought it had to be something like that.
What a brilliant find. I shall keep that website for further use.

Roots chat to the rescue again!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Does anyone know this parish?
« on: Friday 07 February 25 18:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm looking for some help identifying a parish, likely in Norfolk.

It's the marriage of Edward Whitaker & Frances Chapman.
It states that Edward was of ???Lawrenset???

I cannot find anywhere of this name and am hoping that someone might know of a colloquial name it might be.

E.g. Kedington locally known as Ketton!

Any help appreciated.

At the DRO they hold a Book listing payments made as required and stated on the Bastardy bond.

Hi Mowsehowse,

Does DRO stand for Derbyshire Records Office?
I'm not sure.

Hi. Bunnygirl,

I'm researching this family for someone else, but the Anne Biddle I have states in the 1851 and 1861 census that she was from Newbold Verdon around 1793. I have confirmed that with records from FindMyPast (The original is on there) and Anne was baptised 19 November 1792 at Newbold Verdon.
Her Father was William and her mother was Jane.

Mountsorrel is 13 miles away and
Rothley is 12 miles away.

I hope this helps.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Leicestershire Bastardy Bonds

Hello all you lovely people,

I am hoping someone can help me with information that may exist on a bastardy record.

I am looking for the father of:

Thomas son of Anne Biddle of Barwell, a servant.

The Baptism record in the Barwell register states:

Thomas the illegitimate son of Anne Biddle 7 March 1814.

I'm hoping there is a record that might give his fathers name.

Any help would be appreciated,

Linda

On a second look, there does appear to be several similarities.
The pattern on the sleeve cuff is the same and also the epaulettes.

The belt and leather sash are the same too. They certainly look as if they are from a closely related section of the army.

 :)
