Hi could someone tell me if i can access prison records for spike island, my ancestors were held there till they were transported to tasmania australia. their crime was committed in lisduff ireland and they were tried at kings co in 1850. Would these records show where they were born or at least where they lived. A witness to their crime had recognised the strong brothers from the blue ball, i do not know what the blue ball was... maybe a tavern or inn i am also guessing it would have been in lisduff.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

hoping someone can help me please before i go insane..
I am trying to find info on my ancestors, thomas and john strong they were brothers they were convicted and transported to tasmania from queenstown ireland on board the hydrabad in 1850.
We have been told they were from Tullamore Ireland.....where is tullamore???????????
I cannot find anything on them, also thomas paid for his mother mary strong to come to tassy she did in 1855 on board australasia ship. She was a widow.
On her papers and theirs it says they were from queens co.
Does anyone know where i can try and find birth records for thomas born abt 1831 and john born  1829.
Thank-you

Hi i am sorry i have not been on lately moving house etc, i have contacted gasser and she has passed a lot of info onto me which i appreciated, so now i have my lathams sorted out which is great thanks to all for your help.
I am still trying to get info on my grandmother emma cecilia latham nee donagher, she married alfred latham. Her parents were james and sarah donagher, nee williams . All the certs i have are all different spelling of donagher i have james donagan on marriage cert, i have james donagher on his death cert, i have for their 2 sons donacher and donagher. As for sarah the wife of james well her b/cert is williamson and her marriage cert is williams she was born 1861, her parents on her b/cert are john williamson and sarah harbud, but when i tried to find her on tasmania archives i found 2 sarah williams born 1861 and both of them had married different people and not james donagan.
James and sarah married 10th march 1885 at st peters church oatlands tasmania, also i have exhausted all avenues of finding a birth register for my grandmother emma, she says on her marriage cert she was born in launceston 1888, i have certs for her brothers charles and james and all their info right through to their deaths..So i think i may have to give up on looking for info on her i have tried a researcher also and she cant find anything on emma.
