London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Directory for 1867?
« on: Friday 22 October 10 10:06 BST (UK)  »
There is a marriage dated Dec 25th 1881 in Battersey between Temperance Elizabeth Daniels aged 22 (born approx 1860) and Edward Clements. She names her father as William Daniels - a coal dealer.
Could this be a relation? Is it possible that your William Daniels married by 1860 approx and had a child named after his step-mother? Just a thought.

Could you supply a little more info?
What year was William Daniels born?
What area of London was he living in in 1851?
Do you know what occupation his father had...sometimes son's follow their father's line of work?
Did he have any siblings or other family members that he might have lived with?

March Qtr 1881, Islington Volume 1b Page 438
William Haywood to (possibly) Elizabeth Bailey

I have managed to contact someone who has a copy of this marriage cert and learned that this marriage is for a much younger couple - William Haywood born 1857 - as the one I'm searching for was born 1835 approx.

Finding him in eg: 1871 census would be great, but so far no joy.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / William Hayward of Islington
« on: Wednesday 20 October 10 13:44 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to locate William Haywood born approx 1835 Islington, Middlesex, London. His middle name might begin with a 'P' or 'B' or 'R'. He married an Elizabeth ? from Hoxton, Hackney prior to the 1881 census, but I cannot find this marriage.
He has been located in the 1881 and 1891 census in the Upper Holloway, Islington (Kingsdown Road & Holloway Road) area with his wife and child Arthur William. He was a bricklayer by trade.
I'm trying to find him in any of these census's 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1901?  where is this man  ???
I'm trying to find his marriage so that I can identify him and then try to find his birth? For someone who was allegedly born, lived, married and died in the same area, I am having quite a problem?
I'm hitting a bit of a stone wall and wondering if anyone can get me going again. All help will be much appreciated.  :)

Hi England Phil
Many thanks for this, but I'm not sure it's the right King because Ellen was born as a 'King' - unless she married someone with the same name - like a cousin. I'll double check some details.

Hi Familytreefreak
Could you please create a new thread for your enquiry as I receive all responces to my enquiry.
cheers

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Please Help to find Edward G Yelf
« on: Tuesday 01 December 09 17:10 GMT (UK)  »
Please help me to locate an ancestor.

Edward George Yelf b.1845 Windsor, Berkshire.
Known to have lived in Salisbury.

I have found him in 1851, 1861, 1891 and 1901.

Can someone help to locate him in 1871 and 1881 census?

He married in December 1881 in Newbury, so he should be a single person for the 1871 and 1881 census.
In 1861 his occupation was described as a pupil teacher and in 1891 he was an Estate Agents Clerk.

Thankyou for your help. Much Appreciated.

Hi
I was looking to find any info on a photographer.

Name: J Pottle
Parade Studio - Poole Dorset and Minster Studio - Wimbourne.
Portrait and Landscape photographer.

I have a photograph done by him, but I'm trying to date the photo.
The elderly lady is believed to have been born in 1825. She is wearing a nice dress

If anyone has any knowledge / info, it would be most appreciated.

Many Thanks

Hampshire & IOW Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Where are John & Harriet Yelf in 1841?

Hi
I think you have found them.

The last child called Mary was registered in 1840 as Mary Ann. Unfortunately, her death was registered in June quarter 1942 in Windsor. Which means they must have moved to Windsor shortly after the census.
I knew the family had gone to Windsor but did not realise they had lived for a while in Eton.

Many thanks.

Hi all

Thankyou to everyone who has helped to date this old photo.

Yes it is a shame it was cropped - it was done donkeys years ago to fit into an old photo frame.  It has always been in that frame as far as anyone can remember.
