Hi Debs,
So pleased to make contact.  Not on ancestry - like you have lots of info on Crolls in Glasgow and the Dumbarton Rope Works.  How do we go about sharing?  My info is all on word docs.  Lost all my gedcom a few years back with a computer crash but fortunately had hard and stick copies of the word docs - it's just the thought of all that work typing it back in!!!!  Excited to hear you have more info on David and Catherine as I had come to a dead end and was waiting until our next trip to UK.  (Live in Sydney Aust).  By the way my second name is Stirling after Jane so have been very keen to learn more about her - only have family snippets as to why the name has carried down the generations.   This is my first contact with rootschat so a bit of a novice but really keen to exchange what I have.
Rob

Hi Dollydeb,

I am descended from David Croll and Jane Stirling via 3rd child William m Susan Anderson Smith.  David Croll (bapt 10 Dec, 1807 Milton of Campsie) died in Dunoon 24 December 1883 76 years (death details provided by John Dick neighbour does not give wife's name but states son of David Croll carpenter and Catherine (Downie).  Excited to get Jane Stirling's death.  Have been hunting for years.  Have info re children of the couple and their descendants and like you can't get back further than David Croll and Catherine Downie.  Keen to share info.  Re info in last post on William Body Anderson - he is the son in law of David (son of David and Jane Stirling).  He was drowned in a boating accident with my g grandfather William.  Does anyone know how I can access newsreports of an accident on the Gareloch 20 July 1888.  robnewt

Angus (Forfarshire) / Re: Headstone search - Rosehill Cemetery, Montrose
« on: Tuesday 17 March 09 04:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi this is my first chat on roots so hope you receive.  Was searching Rosehill cemetery and noticed you were looking for a Robb headstone.  I have a copy Angus monumental inscriptions which includes Montrose Rosehill.  Checked it for David Robb but only Robb entries are for two wives.  If I can check any other names or cemeteries in Angus let me know.   I'm also in Australia.
