When was Ellen’s last sighting?  I’m guessing you’ve considered the possibility of Nellie Relf, living with her aunt and uncle in West Derby in 1901.

Your Albert shows up in the 1916 Winnipeg directory.
Wicks Albt   carp   h 530 Sherbrooke

1914 Winnipeg City Directory (published in 1914)
The only individual shown with the address 528 Maryland was a Harry Hooper.

Agree.

I didn’t realize there were two pages when I first had access to passenger lists.  Don’t want to admit how long it took me to find out.  ;D

Winnipeg 1915 City Directory
Wicks Alfd  asst Chemist   C P R shops  h 25, 425 Burrows
“     Arthur  carp   Rendall and Whyard
   “     Joseph    electn   h 404 Hampton (St J)

Chemist for CPR?  Could Arthur be a brother?  Strange.

Added: the above men were not in the 1914, 1913 or 1912 Winnipeg directories.

I’m still here.  :o  (Having major problems with iPad.)

Can now view the passenger image:
Home(?)
528 Maryland
Winnipeg

Albert had been in the U.S. before although it has “In transit” so perhaps just on his way to Canada? Annie hadn’t.

Can't see the record you are referring to

The Winnipeg address was documented on the page after Wicks’ name and home address.  :). I believe it was the 23 Apr 1914 passenger list.  I can look again if I’m incorrect about the date.

My iPad won’t stay on.  Can’t double check the 1914 passenger list - J Richards may be for the passenger name under Wicks.  Before iPad died I think I saw (returning) “Home” for the Wicks.

Sending this before iPad dies again. Apologies if I am incorrect about the above.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Ancestry 2024 results changing

Albufera32, I don’t know how I missed seeing your reply; I just stumbled upon it tonight. Thank you very much for your well-written, thorough reply.  (Sadly, my comments never have the same quality.)

I’m pleased to read that your subregions also changed.  I suppose I’m overly-interested in the Scottish region in hope of possibly eventually learning more about ancestors who roamed that area (since other, more reliable sources have not been fruitful).

My own tree (on Anc*try) is rather limited in size as I’ve had difficulties tracking some of my direct ancestors — why bother with siblings when I can’t even find direct ancestors.  However, this year, after reading others’ comments, I changed my mind and started researching and then adding siblings.  Perhaps I may stumble upon wills and other documents to aid my search.

Thank you again for adding your thoughts and comments.  Lisa

Canada Lookup Request / Re: Thompson - Sault Ste Marie
« on: Tuesday 12 November 24 09:38 GMT (UK)  »
1911 census - recorded as immigrating in 1878
1921 census - recorded as immigrating in 1873

I’m having difficulty reading the writing on the image, but perhaps the following is correct:

Incoming passenger list for the Sarmatian
Samuel Thompson
Arrival Age - 20
Birth Date - about 1855
Embarkation Port - Liverpool, England; Londonderry, Ireland
Arrival Date and port - 26 May 1875, Quebec, Quebec, Canada

James Thompson, age 26, Farmer
Robt Thompson, age 25, Farmer
Samuel? Thompson, age 20, Farmer
All bound for Quebec

I haven’t found a tree that includes a brother named Robert so perhaps the above is for a different family.
