Thanks Mike very kind of you to have a look at these records. I'll do some work on the witnesses to see where they lead.

Once again,

Thanks

Leicestershire / Curry Flavel Stonemasons Belgrave Cemetary
« on: Monday 03 May 10 19:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Many of my paternal ancestors were stonemasons most notably Thomas Curry b.1839 (Master Mason) and William Flavell b.1839. I know that from the Leicester Chronicler they constructed the 'Samuel Billington' memorial in Belgrave Cemetary and their business was in Gladstone Street.

Thomas' father Thomas Ralph Curry b.1802 was a stonemason mostly in Lincoln and Sleaford. His elder brothers Robert Curry b.1835 was a stonemason in Lincolnshire and Bishopwearmouth and James Curry b.1830 in Lincoln.

I wondered if anyone had any information on the memorials in Belgrave Cemetary or was aware of any resources in the local record office. Equally if any has any Leicester ancestors who were stonemasons and has any info they can add about the occupation, please get in touch.

regards

Mark

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / St Margaret's Marriage -witness
« on: Monday 03 May 10 15:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm interested in trying to discover the witnesses to the following St Margaret marriages:

James Atkins and Susan Swingler 11/06/1832

Ann Atkins and Randall Copson 12/08/1827

I'm trying to find a link between Sarah Curry (nee Atkins) so witnesses may give a clue...

Thanks

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / St Margaret's Baptism - Atkins
« on: Sunday 02 May 10 21:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Hoping for a look up for Sarah Atkins.

On the 1851 census she states she is of St. Margaret's Parish Leicester.

Her age varies abit:

1841 = 35 (rounded down could be 35 - 39)
1851 = 44
1861 = 50 (could possibly read as 56)

So she was possibly born 1802 - 1811 but I think the 1861 census age is inaccurate so most likely 1802 - 1807.

Any help appreciated,

thanks

Hi,

Wondering if anyone is able to see if there is a baptism in St. Marys PR Leicester, for a Thomas [Ralph] Curry born 1802/3. Parents anticipated as John Curry and Jane.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
