Just found your conversation and it brought back lovely memories.  I was only there during 1958-59.  Do you remember the music teacher who brought her little dog into assembly each day and placed it on the grand piano?  And do you also remember Blackies from which we were banned whether or not wearing our hats?  I still have my hat in the wardrobe!  My daughter finds the thought of wearing divided skirts rather than shorts unbelievable - especially when even they had to be not far above the knees.  Thank you for your conversations - I've really enjoyed them.

Hi Neil

To be honest, I only was active when I put those details on, along with my sister-in-law - it's our husbands who are the Woolcocks.  We'd be delighted to join with you in joining up the trees.  It's some time since I worked on this tree but I know I've been given some good links to parish records in the Dover region, so will look them out tomorrow and send to you.  I also must get to Dover to go through records there because I've found the Record Offices to be really helpful.  Will send more details tomorrow.

Regards - Chris Woolcock

Hi Sue

Wow - that's given me masses more info - both on my tree and also on places to look.  No - I didn't know about the Durham transcription website and will be rushing to investigate now.

I do have access to Axxxy now and so will be looking into that too.

Once again, many thanks indeed for all your help.

Regards - Christine

Family History Beginners Board / Looking for Peter May
« on: Monday 16 March 09 19:59 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for birth of Peter May.  Born 1858-1861 (depending on age taken from 1891 and 1901 censuses) and married in 1887 in Tynemouth.  His place of birth given in these censuses was “Liverpool”.  However, can’t find him anywhere in 1861, 1871 or 1881, although there is a possible Peter May in the 1881 in a ship off the coast of Cornwall and giving his place of birth as “Westport, Ireland”.  Any suggestions gratefully received. :)

Family History Beginners Board / Rumney Family of Middleton on Teesdale

My 4-great grandfather was Joseph Rumney who married Frances Milburn in Middleton on 25.11.1815.  I know Joseph died before 1841 but don’t have any information about his birth or death. Their children were all born in Hawkewell Head.  I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions as to where I may go to find more info.   Many thanks.

Hi Jane - Info much appreciated.  That means that Harriet is the sister of Edward's wife!  Also looks as though the whole family were mariners.  Their absence from the census (Yes - I'm able to have access, thanks) presumably is because the men were at sea, though I'd imagined there would have been a census for seafarers?  C
