Hi Alison - many thanks for your post of yesterday.   If you do have time to have a look for my Lance or Snelgar family members, it would be very much appreciated.  I know that William Lance Snelgar was born and christened in Poole in 1832, and I believe his parents were John Snelgar and Elizabeth Lance (?b. 1804) - they possibly married in 1829.
Any help most gratefully received.
Regards

The Common Room / Re:volunteer transcriber
« on: Monday 29 March 04 19:25 BST (UK)  »
I, too, live in Spain and am a volunteer transcriber for FreeBMD which is not a problem because they just send me the scanned images of pages as e-mail attachments, which I then send back to my syndicate supervisor for checking before uploading to the FreeBMD site - it's all quite simple and easy to download the necessary software.
I'm still a novice at transcribing myself, but probably like you felt I wanted to give something back instead of always using the services of these wonderful sites.
At the moment my particular syndicate is transcribing the first quarter of 1907 for marriages.
If you want any more information let me know  :D

Dorset / Dorset Parish Registers - Poole area
« on: Monday 16 February 04 12:57 GMT (UK)  »
I would be grateful if anyone on this section of the forum is local to Poole and would be in a position to search the archives on the parish registers for that area.    I have traced ancestors back to that area, and very conveniently they all seem to have been organised about registered births and christenings - all carried out at the one church (Skinner Street Independent in Poole).
I have been researching the names Lance and Snelgar, so if anyone lives in that area and could help I would be very grateful.
At the same time, if anyone knows Poole, I wonder if they could confirm whether or not the United Reform Church which is now listed as being in Skinner Street is actually on the site of the "Skinner Street Independent" mentioned in the archives I hae been researching.
Many thanks in advance

Completed Census Requests / Re:1891 Census London look up request
« on: Monday 09 February 04 22:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Chris
Thanks for looking.   I think I've actually found the Goodmans on the 1901 census - father Robert, wife Jane and daughter Jessie at either 41 or 43 Ringcroft St (can't remember which off-hand).   Jessie Goodman married George Basil Pamflett in May 1902, and I now suspect that he gave the address next door to the Goodmans as an "accommodation" address.   At the time of the marriage, it seems that George Basil Pamflett had been spelling his name wrong all his life (i.e. as Pamphlett).  I believe he is likely to be the Basil Pamphlett who appears in the 1881 census at the Strand Union Childrens Establishment in Edmonton along with brother Charles and sister Louisa.   I just wonder where they all were in 1891 and hoped I might have found one of them in Ringcroft Street.
Many thanks for your help

Completed Census Requests / 1891 Census London Pamflett or Goodman
« on: Sunday 08 February 04 22:18 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help with who was living at what I believe to be 43 and 41 Ringcroft Street in Islington?  I have ancestors who married in May 1902 who give these addresses and as they married at St. Mary Magdalene in Islington, I am hoping the addresses are also in Islington.   Street name is difficult to read, but I think it's Ringcroft Streeton the marriage certificate.   I'm hoping this may throw up the names of either Pamflett or Goodman.
Any help gratefully received
Regards, Jacki
