Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Birth WILLIAM COLE in BOUGHTON please

Thank you, I think you have solved the mystery. I had very nearly given up on this one.
The family is still missing in 1841 so I can only assume that they had all moved to London by then, and that the family had split up.
Louise.

I think you are right. James and Eliza went on to have a daughter - Ursula in 1853. I had wondered about John Corner, but couldn't be sure either way. Thank you.

Thank you both for your help. Eliza living with John Corner is the right one, I believe he was her grandfather. Thank you also for the map, I have been searching on the wrong side of the Penzance Road. ::)  James and Eliza are my 3x great grandparents, its strange to think that our ancestors knew each other well.  Are you local to Helston? The reason I ask is that By 1851 James Martin and family had moved to London, on that census his place of birth is down as Good or Goad, Cornwall, do you know of such a place? James died before the 1861 census.

Cornwall / MARTIN family SITHNEY, HELSTON.

I am trying to find the area where James Martin a carpenter, and his family lived. James and his wife Eliza were married in Sithney church in 1837. Their first 4 children were baptised in Helston between 1838 and 1846 and the address was given as either St Johns or Anstratea. I have visited Sithney several times, but have drawn a blank as to the exact area they would have lived in. Does anyone know if either of these places still exists, or where they were? Thanks, Louise.

Thank you Carol,

I'm sure that is him, as Mary, James and Sarah all appear in 1841.

Louise.

There is a William Moody with a son William b 1840, both are house decorators living in Tower Hamlets

Are you referring to the 1861 census?  Is this the same family in 1851?

Son William is 11 and father William is a paperhanger

I have just found this William in 1871 living with his parents and still working as a paperhanger. So they are definitely two different people.

I’m trying to find William Moody in the1851 and 1861 census.

In 1871 he is listed as William Moodey b 1841 St Luke, Middlesex, Fish Dealer. He is living with his wife and children in Memel Street, St Luke.

William married Mary Ann Hodges a widow in 1864, at the time he was a Shopman and was living at 5 Kings Court.  His father is listed as William Moody a Painter.
In 1881 Mary Ann is a widow living with their children at 34, Mitchell Street, St Luke.

There is a William Moody with a son William b 1840, both are house decorators living in Tower Hamlets, but this William goes on to marry a Caroline Hodgson in 1879, so cannot be him.

Can anyone help please?

 Louise.

Thanks Valda,

I have had a look on Findmypast the records are not there yet but will try again in a couple of weeks. If that fails I will get a quote from The National Archives.

Thanks again Louise.
