Hi Michael Walsh..I didnt know John Flanagan had died...he was a lovely man and invited us into his home where he gave us so much information on Buckley Hall...I phoned him a few times but suffered a heart attack myself and when I phoned again John was ill himself..then my mum had open heart surgery and I never managed to ring John...that is so sad.....
John knew my uncles who went to Buckley Hall in 1931..one was called Leo and the other Harold Brierley...Leo died in 1996 and went to the reunions.I have never found Harold but he is on the same picture with John Flanagan  that I put on here. Also Leo and Harold are on the other picture with the band..
Later on my father James and younger brother Herbert Brierley were moved to Buckley Hall.By this time Leo and Harold had left there...
It would be lovely to hear about your dads time there...I hope you can get back to me...Peg...

Hi Dibley...here is the picture of the boys from Buckley Hall..my uncle Harold Brierley(was born Mitchell in 1922 in Chorlton but he wouldnt have known that probably until it came to him getting his pension) is the lad in the middle with the `sloppy` eyes and arms folded..looks a bit like Robert Mitcham...he and his brother Leo Brierley (Mitchell)born 1919 were placed there in 1931...later on in about 1941 my dad James Brierley born 1925 Salford and Herbert Brierley born 1928 Salford were placed there after being in Our Ladys in Didsbury..sad that the boys were split up and never met again...my dad died in 1999 and Leo in 1996..I have never found Harold or Herbert...

Such a shame Dibley that I have only just found this site as my father and his brothers were `placed` in Buckley Hall.I have one photo of my uncle Harold Brierley with a group of boys there.A man by the name of John Flanagan from Manchester invited me and my family to his home and gave us an insight into what life was like in Buckley Hall.I do not know if John is still living as he was well into his eighties and in poor health but he had lots of photos and I know was a main provider of information in the books written about the hall by Pat..If you ever get back on here I hope you will contact me...
