Hi Gerry,

Thank you for your reply, I think I have a better idea now about the cemetery names and locations. I think I will visit again soon to have another closer look.

Your other link with the pictures inside Old Dalbeth are an eyeopener!! What a state it must have been allowed to get into.

I,ve taken the opportunity to send you a PM with a short list of MI's I would like to look at more closely if that it is OK with yourself.

Thank you very much once again.

Hello 'GerryFarrell'

I have just literally stumbled on your various posts re Dalbeth Cemetery. I spent last Friday and Saturday in the Mitchell Library pouring over the Burial Record Microfilm for St Peters And Dalbeth with limited success and then visiting the cemetery, only to find that there was no entry through the wall to Old Dalbeth and St Peters Cemetery only open on weekdays. Despair!

Then I found yourself and others on RootsChat.com.

I wonder if you could firstly clarify exactly how many cemeteries are actually there? I noticed The Good Shepherd stands between Old Dalbeth and St Peters and Dalbeth Cemeteries. Are they all listed somewhere?

Also I note that you have managed to transcribe the MI's and photograph the gravestones, and wonder whether you might share some of this information if I were to send you a PM?

Hi Lynda

Read your message and your reference to a photogarpher with middle names of Sinclair and Traill strikes me as something of a coincidence when compared with my information.

Some time ago, I traced my forebears to a GGGGrandfather named James Sinclair who was a Mason and lived at Peathill, Pitsligo in Aberdeenshire. I have a monumental inscription from his grave where he is buried with his Wife Margaret Ingram. James Sinclair died 18 March 1850 aged 84.
Now the coincidence! The gravestone inscription states that the stone was 'erected by James Gordon, Photographer, Fraserburgh' and the inscription continues with further information about Margaret Ingram and then concludes: 'MARY TRAIL wife of above JAMES GORDON d. 24 Mar. 1899 aged 71; said JAMES GORDON d. Sandhaven 27 Dec. 1914 aged 87'.

Is it possible that your 'photographer' could be a daughter or granddaughter of James Gordon of Fraserburgh?

If you require any further information, please let me know.

Hi
Has anyone any knowledge of Crimond Airfield in Aberdeenshire? When was it constructed?
Are any records of the farms and crofts which were displaced still available and which Estate records would apply?

Any assistance would be welcome

Thank you.

Lanarkshire / Re: Quinn - blind - near 'dogs' racetrack, Glasgow...

Hi there,

I noticed your previous message and other replies. There was another dog racing track in Glasgow in the Esat End of the city. It was called Carntyne Race Track and was situated at the junction of Carntyne Road and Todd Street near Duke Street.
Perhaps this might help?
