John Beck - I have his home area as Scarva, Co Down, married Elizabeth Gillespie in Bathgate, Scotland on 19 July 1855.
I corresponded with a few others in New Zealand re his descendants - of which there is quite a few.
I have a Bronwyn Leigh Shanks - daughter of Brenda Marie Ward and David Owen Joseph Shanks, would this be you ?  Although i have most of the dates for BMD up to about the late 1980's early 1990s, I do not have any place information.
The earlier information you have was from the pamphlets of a Re. William Beck, who conducted most of his research in the 1st world war era, obviously this contains some brilliant research, but also some woefully incorrect data.
John Beck born about 1650 in Armagh - did NOT marry an Elizabeth Strettell, there is no proof of this fact. However there is proof of a Quaker marriage of a John Beck to an Elizabeth Robinson in late 1690's or early 1700' ( I have a copy of it somewhere) and details of the births of 4 of their children, with the same names and in order of birth as in John's will.
The Strettells were only very good business friends of John Beck, in the lined trade.
The seal used on the will of John beck and a Thomas Beck of Belfast can be traced in different forms, to the Becks of Holland.
I am descended from Adam Beck of Kircubbin, Co Down, he is mentioned in several documents including the early muster rolls of 1629/33 for men aged between 18 and 50 yrs of age - must have been born 1579- 1611, he is mentioned in the later 1663 subsidy rolls with a son John, so Adam must have been born 1579 - to 1611, and probably in the early 1600's. John his son born 1613 to 1647 so again probably around the 1630's.
I can find no proof my Adam Beck was related to either John of Armagh or Thomas of Belfast.
The Rev William was using the 4 brother story to make them brothers.
I would welcome any date you would have and would gladly exchange whatever information I have.

Many thanks Aghadowey, these records show no mention of the 1828 congregation census, that's why I was looking for a more specific location at PRONI, ie at the end of the baptisms etc. Or in fact is it only available at the church. I already have the Londonderry 1831 heads of household census and the Tithe and Griffiths mentions, I searched all the Limavady registers and with the exception of a Wallace Long marriage in Ballykelly Pres these Longs are not mentioned. Hence my interest in this 1828 census, it would all the long family members.
But thank you once again for your help.

Looking for any entries for the Long family of Drumsurn Lower and Upper, the lands owned march on the south of Lower to the North of Upper.
I have a Robert Long (1801-1859) who had at least two sons James 1837 and Samuel 1839
Robert is on Griffiths and name crossed out to James Long. John long in Upper was son of William Long ( died before 1863) he married and move to Galliagh in Londonderry.
But the Tithe of 1828 has Matthew Long in Upper and Lower, Samuel Long and Samuel jnr in Lower, William in Upper and William jnr in Lower and Upper. The 1831 census has f families - William and Matthew in Lower, and William, Widow and Samuel in Upper.
The family were Pres. except Samuel ( son of Robert 1859) who married a Rc and moved to Galliagh.
Is there any baptismal records for Balteagh Pres before 1864 and is there any burial transcriptions of the graveyard. I don't know how to figure out who belongs to what family.

I don't know if this line is still active, I've been researching the Becks of Ireland for a great many years, I was very interested in the Dorothea who married John Beresford, I have a Dorothy Beck of originally Quilley Dromore the sister of a John Beck of Quilley born 1756 and married his cousin Mary Beck, died in Ballysallagh in 1840. His son Samuel Beck of Ballysallagh was married 3 times - his third marriage was to a Dorothy Mills, they were the parents of Mary Beck who married John Jardine.
Mary Beck who married Robert Thomas Barrisfield ( grandson of John Beresford ) was the daughter of James Beck and Elizabeth Chambers of Ballykeel, they are connected to the Ballysallagh Becks, but several generations earlier.

Hi - I have the tree for George Beck back to the early 1600's.
I've been researching the Beck lines in Ireland and their descendants for a long time.
I would gladly exchange any information you might have on George and his descendants for the earlier information.
You mentioned that George's mother was Helen Hill - I have his parents as James Beck and Elizabeth Hamilton.
Janet Hamilton Beck born in 1882 was a continuation of the grandmothers surname.
Also you mentioned there were two children born in Belfast before the family moved to Scotland.
I have the full details for Janet, but I cannot find any George.
Di you know if James Beck and Elizabeth Hamilton moved to Scotland with George and his family, as there is NO death registrations for them in Ireland.
James and Elizabeth must have died after civil registration commenced in Ireland in 1864, as they had a child, Sarah,  who was born and died in 1868.
George had 4 other known siblings, and his father James was one of 13 or 14 children.
