United States of America / James Currie Grosse Point Michigan
« on: Sunday 09 December 12 22:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm looking some information on my Gt Grandfather (Samuel Currie) brother James, who was born in Tardree, Co Antrim Northern Ireland but moved to Michigan 1923. I have found him on the 1930 census. I know he came home for a visit to NI in 1948 with his wife Betty but cannot find anymore information on either of them since then.
Is there an easy way to find out an obituary or death details for him? I have tried a lot of sites on the web but still no further forward.
Thanks
Amanda

United States of America / Help with date of death
« on: Wednesday 21 September 11 13:34 BST (UK)  »
Hoping someone can help me. How can I find an exact date of death of a relative? I have tried several website (some with payments) and none can give me the exact date of death that I will need to purchase his death certificate and hopefully find out where he is buried. Details are below:

James Currie
Born: 15 January 1895
Born in Tardree, County Antrim, Northern Ireland
Died in Wayne, Michigan
Date of death September 1983.

I have his SSN number also.

Would appreciate any help as I am fed up paying for websites that promise me details and I end up with the same information that I can get from free websites.

Thanks
Amanda

Armagh / Re: Liggett family - Ballynagreagh and Tandragee

My grandfathers family were all McCammons from Crankey but on some of the older photos that I have there are several Liggett family members. I know they are related somehow to my family but haven't figured it out yet. I will ask my mum or uncle if they know how the Liggetts were related. Of the details I have from photos & death notices the members of the Liggetts are: Robert, William, Joseph, Andrew, Richard & Adam. There is also a photo of Mary & Sadie Liggett. Have any of these names appeared in your tree (especially Adam as it wouldn't have been used much in those days). Also in one of the death notices it mentions a Mr & Mrs Martin Liggett.
Hope this is of some help and when I get some more info I will repost this. If you want any of the photos let me know and I'll PM them to you.

Hi there
I have photos of some of the Liggett family from around Loughgilly or Crankey area of Co Armagh. My grandfathers family was related in some way to them but I'm not that far back yet. If you would like them sent to you let me know. These would have been from around the turn of the 20th century.

Hi Maureen
I'm on facebook also under Amanda Turbitt McComb. My email address is * if you want to contact me. I think I replied to you on another question in regards to the Kenney family. I will explain where I come into the family. My Gt grandfather was Samuel David Currie. He had a sister Agnes Leitch (Margaret Rea Crothers mother) and a brother James. They both emigrated but Samuel David stayed here in Tardree, Co Antrim. I have a lot of photos and also paper notice of your grandfathers death here in Northern Ireland that my grandmother kept. Do you have dates, photos of headstones etc of any of the Kenney/Crothers family. I am also keen on any information on James Currie. I have a photo of him with his wife on the Queen Elizabeth ship but very little information on him. My Gt Grandfather had 7 children of which his youngest Sarah (known as Sadie) is still alive here in Northern Ireland. I know that she will be delighted when I tell her that I have now come across some of the  Kenney family.
Have tried to facebook you this evening but there are a lot of Margaret Kenney so don't know which one is you. It is now 1030 pm here in Ireland and I am heading to bed so will contact you tomorrow evening if thats ok.
Thanks for getting in touch and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
