Thank you for the reply.  I think I am looking pre 1837 which is probably why I am having such difficulty.

I hope this makes sense as I do not have all the details at hand.

I have previously asked for help trying to find more details about my ancestors who were either gypsy or travellers, I can trace most of them on censuses from the earliest, I have details of names and dates etc of some but what I was wondering was is there anyway I can find marriages as there doesn't seem to be any record of them in parish records.

I haven't tried to look for this branch of my family for a while so if in the last 12 months or so there have been any new developments in where to search for these ancestors records I would be grateful if anyone could give me some tips.

Thank you.

Hi,

If you do want me to go just let me know but if you have emailed Father Peter you should be ok he is a nice man and knows a lot of the history of the church he printed me a copy off all about the church and it made very interesting reading.

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Death record for Louis/Lewis Philip Charles Wilton
« on: Saturday 05 January 13 21:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I don't know if you are aware but the church you have mentioned is a Catholic one so some records may not be so easily accessible online.

If I have time in the next couple of weeks I will pop into the churchyard, which is not very big, and see if I can see any information on the name Wilton.

Hope it is ok to put his link on

http://www.wolverhamptonhistory.org.uk/resources/indexes

you can look through a few of the churches but if you go on all burials in the area you will find the James age 2yrs 11 months he was living Oxford Street at the time of his death but it gives no parents names.

Ahhh right.  Thank you.

Must say I am surprised in this day and age when so many people have children "out of wedlock".

The Common Room / Recent Birth Registered Twice???

I should probably know the answer to this but I don't so could someone tell me if they know please.

I was not married when I had two of my children they appear in the records in both my name and in their fathers name, surely as he was there when the births were registered and their birth certificates only have their fathers name on it,  I do of course mean surname, surely it would only need one entry.

Thanks.

My great great grandma was Harriett Jackson (Follows/Fellows/Fallows depending on how it is transcribed, and Fisher) born around 1822 in Abbots Bromley.

Her father was William on the 1861 marriage certificate to John Fisher states her father is William Jackson a stonemason.

Just wondered if there was any connection
