Stirlingshire / Re: RISK Surname - Mainly Stirling, Dunbarton, Renfrew & Lanark.

Hello Jamie,
I haven't visited this site for quite some time so missed your message. Are you Jamie Risk from Gowston, Buchlyvie? I would love to have contact with you and be able to fill in the gaps of recent generations. With perseverance it is possible to go backwards for generations on the internet, but of course nothing is available for current years. Over time I have amassed a huge amount of data on the Risks descended from James Risk 1700-1772 and am happy to share this with you.
Regards,
Coline.

Good to hear from someone on this line. I am particularly interested in the ancestors of James Risk and Ann Gardner of Kilmaronock. My direct link to the Risk family is via James Risk and Janet Harvie from Buchlyvie. I have been trying for years to find the connection for these 2 families as I feel certain there is one. I think James who married Ann Gardner may have been a son of Robert Risk and Agnes Patterson from Killearn, but then can't find records to prove it.
I do have a file on the desendants of James Risk and Ann Gardner and would be happy to share it with you if you wish. Maybe between us we can add more to this family.
Kind regards,
Coline.

Hi Monica,
Yes I have a copy of Elizabeth Hall Risk's death reg from SP. She died 8/11/1918 at 45 bank Street, Hillhead, Glasgow, aged 79 yrs. Cause of death: Intracapsular fracture of neck of femur - 4 mths and cerbral haemorrhage - 4 days. Death was registered by her nephew J Hall Risk of 3 Hampden Terrace, Glasgow, on 9/11/1918. Elizabeth was single but unfortunately her occupation was not stated.
I haven't checked all the census records for her so really can't tell you any more, sorry.
Just realised I can attach a copy here so hope you receive it OK.

Thanks for the notification of the photo. I'll have a look now.
Shame about the Murphys!   :(

Query for Monica.
I notice you have the Murphy name from Lanark listed in your interests. My husbands 3X great grandparents were Irish but the earliest info we have for them is from Paisley and then Glasgow. They were Robert Murphy and Isabella Knox. Just posting this on the off chance we may have a connection!! Looking for Murphys in Ireland is rather like Smiths in England.
Regards,
Coline.
