Hi,

Sorry for being so vague.  He was born (I think) in Portsea, Hampshire and then moved to Sussex. In 1851 he is listed as living in Petworth and being a Hawker.  He is married to Elizabeth and had children John and Henry (I couldnt find others although I am sure there is).  I think I found his probate saying he died 21 Aug 1876 in Oving, Sussex. But he is listed as a gentleman and has £2000 estate.  Is this the same person??

I found him in the newspapers saying he was part of a gypsy tribe.

I just wondered if anyone else had him in there tree or any descendants and if anyone knew anymore?

Thanks

Best Wishes

Louise

Is there a thread for them? how do I find it?

Thanks

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Parish Records - St. Margaret's, Leicester
« on: Wednesday 10 January 18 12:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Tony,

Thank you so much for trying to help me.  Very much appreciated!! I am trying to trace  a George Henry Glover, born Jan 1875 Leicester.  Parents I think to believe are Henry Glover (born 1853 in Great Glen, Leicester) and Maria Hill (born 1854, Gill Morten, Leicester).  I think George Henry Glover married a Emma Florence David (born 1874).  Although without the parish records these are just a good guess!

I have who I believe to be George Henry Glover on the 1881  census (aged 6) living with his parents.  Address is 30 Alfred Terrace, St Margaret, Leciester.  Cant seem to find much about this family though.

Any help so much appreciated.

Best Wishes

Louise

Hi,

I know this is an old threat but I am hoping someone can help.  I am also after parish records for St Margarets, Leicester.  I am looking for a baptism for George Henry Glover born 1875. Or any Glover information may be helpful.

Thank you all so much

Hi Ady

Yes its strange isnt it that he cant be found on Royal Navy.  Yes that could be a son as he had a son who he named John M Bradford.  If I pay for that record would it tell me any more information that would be usefull?

Thanks

Lou

Hi Ady,

Well this is where it confuses me even more.

On the 1861 census onboard the vessel Megaera in the Royal Navy he is listed as born in Brighton (which is correct)  and aged 38 which would be correct.

On the other 1861 census I have he is listed as born in Brighton and living with his wife Caroline (aged 37) and his children.  His occupation says he is a sailor in the Royal Navy.  However his age says 57, which is not correct.  At first I thought maybe it was his father living here, while he was away at sea (his father had the same name), but he is listed as the 'head' and Caroline is listed as 'wife' not 'daughter in law'.  Therefore I thought maybe the census man had wrote his age wrong?

What do you think? Its giving me a headache, haha.  I thought if I could find him on Royal Navy records it may make more sense, but I cant locate him.

Thanks

Best Wishes

Louise
