Yes, I've found Thomas... actually have all his children done...down to his grandchildren in most cases... and right down to the 5th generation in many of the others.  It's James Sr himself that has been the puzzle.

I did find a Thomas Dickson and Mary Glendinning from Mouswald, Dumfries, Scotland who had several children, of which one was a James born Mar, 1812.  He's the only one of their children not accounted for in the family tree.  I'm wondering if he could be even from that family?  The wonderful thing about the Dickson name is it's PLENTIFUL! lol.
The Thomas with Mary from Mousewald's info is as follows:

Thomas: 1 Apr 1790 birth   Death: 17 May 1869 Woodside, Mouswald, Dumfries, Scotland.  The reason I'm focusing on the names of Thomas, Robert and Adam so much is because that's the names of his first 3 sons... so perhaps he followed the naming pattern...perhaps he didn't.  errrrrrrr.... I love this whole genealogy thing... but sometimes....the brick wall is a little overwhelming!  But thanks anyway.

I'm not sure....but I've got tingles... anyway..lol!  Catherine's birth year was 1817, and two of her sons have listed her maiden name differently..."Warding, Warden, and Warner"  Jame's birth year is between 1811-1816.  There isn't a single census after 1841 Scptland where his birth year matches the 1816 year recorded on the 1841 Scotland census, except for the 1881 census.  On his death registry, it says he was 77, and he died in 1889, but his headstone says he was 78.
The two children they had at the time were Thomas, aged 4 and Robert aged 2.

I included the Thomas and Christian and Margeret, because his address on the 1841 Scotland Census was Skaithmuir, and so was theres.... I was thinking that they could be related...???

Anyway, that's all I've got for info... hope it is more clear.  Thank you for your help!

They settled in Renfrew County, Ontario.

At Coldstream, there was a James, Cathrine with sons Thomas and Robert.  There was also a Margret, with a Thomas and Christian.  The 1841 census says they were born at Coldstream, and yet James headstone says Native of Dumfries, Scotland.  James and Cathrine are on the 1852 Canada Census with more children of which one more was born in Scotland and two more born in Canada.  They may possibly be on the 1842 census which is being proofread right now. Now I don't know where to look.  If anyone has any info on this family, I would so appreciate it if you could share it with me.   Sincere Thanks.  Dickie.

Hi Becky.... The Dickson list you posted is my ancestors... James, Cathrine...etc.  They ended up settling in Canada.  They are definitley on the 1851 Census and possibly on the 1842 census which hasn't been proofread yet to be 100% certain of it.  Can you share any more information on them.  I've tried so hard to find them on a shipping list to know avail.. to determine their arrival date.  Do you have any thing else you can share?  Thanks ever so much.

Hi again,

Beckey... these Dicksons are my ancestors!!!  The Skaithmuir Dicksons that is... they immigrated to Canada.... I don't know how they got there from here... I just know they ended up on the 1851 Census, and possibly on the 1842 one, which hasn't been proofread yet, so it's not a certainty.  Can you share any more information on them?  I've tried so hard to find a ship list and family of theirs but I can't.  I do know that Cathrine's maiden name was Warden.  Any information you could share with me would be greatly appreciated.
