Hello Wendy

I have a birth cert for Elizabeth Ann born 8/12/1884 at 3 Invereith Terrace, Ystradyfodwg, Pontypridd which shows mother as Sarah Ann Jarman formerly Charles and Jonathan Jarman.  On 1901 Census Elizabeth is 16 and living with parents and siblings at 14 Glamorgan Terrace, Llwynpia.  Elizabeth had a child named Ivor Jarman born 23rd October 1902 so if Winifred was her second born with the Jarman name why didn't she change Ivor's name!.  I have a death cert of Elizabeth Ann dated 7/3/1947 (died at 28 Bristol Terrace, Bargoed) age 63 so that ties up with the date of birth of 1884. Confusing definately!

Wendy

Just been thinking about previous messages . Elizabeth Ann Jarman was her maiden name she then married Ernest Ball.

The confusion thing is I have a marriage certificate for Winifred "Ball" to my grandfather which says they married at Mertyr Tydfil Registry Office on 22nd November 1926 and Winifred was 22 years old and Clifford was 24 years old.  So that would make Winifred born in 1904 however if Elizabeth and Ernest were not married until 1908 as you suggest then our Winifred must be Jarman.  The next down also has the surname "Ball" and her name was Ceiwen born 25 September 1908 and address again is 2 Healddu Road, Bargoed.

Thank you Wendy and Tati.  This is my grandmother.  Everyone thought her maiden name was Ball and thanks for the marriage of Elizabeth and Ernest.

Wonderful :) :)

Hello can someone help me.  My grandmother Winifred Maud BALL was born in Tirphil sometime around 1904.  I have birth certificates for her siblings who were all born in Bargoed. The family lived at 2 Healddu Road, Bargoed according to the birth certificate of the second born my grandmother being the first born of 11 children.

I am at a total loss.  I cannot find a birth certificate for Winifred Maud BALL born around 1904.  She married my grandfather in Merthyr Tydfil and I have a marriage certificate. Winifred's mother was Elizabeth Ann Jarman, I have searched with a surname of Jarman but I just can't find anything.  Any ideas?

Hi, my mother cannot remember. she remembers being at Sarah at the beginning of the warm she was sent there from London but cant remember how long she stayed there.  She went to the school Tirphil which was in the same street as Sarah's shop perhaps school records if there are any remaining could give me a clue.

Hello,

I can't find anymore information.  My mother says Sarah was alive in 1939 and she thinks she died between then and 1953 but we are not sure. All I know is that she had a shop at 60 School Street, Tirphil which is where her husband Thomas died. I have a death certificate for Thomas.  Gertrude (Gertie) her daughter looked after Sarah at 60 School Street, Gertie married Jack Young and they had a daughter called Shirley I know nothing about Shirley.  We believe that when Sarah died Gertie and family left the 60 School Street (the shop). I do not know where they went or what happened to the shop.

Thanks SUBI

Hello Carole, thanks for message.  I have checked through the deaths and found 3 deaths for a Sarah Tanner but none of them were correct.  We were told Sarah was in the 90's when she died but this could be wrong , the only information I have is that she was married to Thomas and as far as I know she did not remarry.

Thanks
