Hi Daisy

Thank you for that - it looks like the right Elizabeth.  I thought she must have died as she doesn't appear on any later census.  Will send for the certification I think !

Hi

Forget the bit about reformatory at Stoke Prior - it was Samuel's son (I believe - my g.grandfather).

I agree that Henry the groom is a possibility.  I just wish they all been given uncommon names  ;)

Hi

Am researching a Jones family from Blockley, between 1810 and 1870.  William Jones b. 1811 married Maria Pickering in 1834.  They had 4 children - Elizabeth, Samuel, William and Henry.  William dies in 1848 and by the 1851 census Maria has now married David Phipps and the children are "lodgers" in the household.

My family are descended from Samuel Jones and would be interested to know what happened to the brothers and sister.  I think thre is a possibility that Henry went to reform school (or farm school) at Stoke Prior?

Hi Kerry

Thanks for that.  I have quite a few Brooks' and now go quite a way back - not all boatmen though.

Hi kerry

I see you have Brooks' on your website (I already have this information).  Would be interested to know where you got the information from?

Have you seen Gerald Cresswell's website for canal boatmen?  It is very interesting and has quite a few boatmen names listed as well.
