Thanks Jonn
I did have the earlier census data and son Andrew's marriage certificate - whence I got Andrew seniors details. I haven't managed to pin down Elizabeth Thomson's death so I am interested/curious about your source for her parents.
Best wishes

Ayrshire / Reid's of Tarbolton, Ayrshire

Elizabeth Reid nee Thomson was born in Tarbolton in 1806 and was recorded in the 1861 Census as a Public House keeper at 18, Montgomery Street. Her husband Andrew I have been unable to trace.
Her son Andrew was born in Tarbolton in 1826 and lived there for most of his life until his death in 1898. His occupation was a silk weaver. On one of his trips away from Ayrshire he met and married Mary Ann Jerwood in Spitalfields, London and she returned to live in Tarbolton until her death in 1896.
Elizabeth's daughter, and Andrew's sister, Agness was born in Tarbolton in 1831 and was recorded in the 1901 Census as a Grocer at 43 Montgomery Street.
Public houses, grocers and silk weavers on Montgomery Street, Tarbolton - the essence of Social History. Are there any local sources of information about these trades in Ayrshire ? Does anyone have any further insight on the Reid's of Tarbolton?
