Canada / Allison family from Greenock, Scotland, to Ontario, Canada, 1928
« on: Sunday 03 January 10 18:35 GMT (UK)  »
The following Allison family sailed from Greenock to Quebec August 25th, 1928 on the Montcalm.
all born Glasgow
Agnes Allison 40
Arras -- 9
Agnes -- 7
Roderick -- 5
Jean -- 2
R Allison 44 (husband and father).
R McDonald 2 Chappell St. Barrhead, Glasgow. is given as older Agnes brother.
all landed immigrants going to Ottawa Ave, London, Ontario.

Arras Robertina Allison married my father's cousin Donald Lawrence Grimes.  He was in the RCAF and died during WWII in 1942.

Would anyone have any information on Arras and Donald? I would like to know if they had any children.  Arras lived in London, Ontario, Canada, when Donald died.  She subsequently married Vincent Kenyon and he and she are buried in Ontario, Canada.

Thank you, Ray.  I spent the afternoon looking through them - good thing I'm retired!

Hi,

My Osmotherley Smith family intermarried with the Weighells in the 1700s.  I live in Canada.  My Smith family emigrated in 1774.  There is some confusion over whether Nathaniel or Benjamin Smith married Rachel Weigell.   Perhaps there were two Rachel Weigells.

Benjamin Smith b 11 Mar 1745/46 at Ingleby Greenow d. 30 Jan 1814 in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada, married 13 Mar 1769 at Osmotherley to Rachel (some say Newsome, but I found Weighell in the Diocese_of_Durham_Bishops'_Transcripts_ca._1700-1900).

His brother Nathaniel Smith b 1751/51 is also reported to have married a Rachel Weighell before 1744 at Osmotherley.

Do you have this family in your data?

Thanks,

Ellen

Hi

I am researching the Weighill/Weighells of Osmotherley. Beginning so far with William Weighill in around 1706.

Sarah Weighell, daughter of Mark Weighell and Jane Jackson. Other children I believe include
William
John
Mark

I believe Mark (1750) was the son of William Wieghell
Other children are (I think)
Sarah
William
Mary
Ann
Hannah
Dinah
Rachel

Any information would be gratefully received

Thank you
Debbie
